Let me introduce myself!  My name is Paula Williams and I live in a quaint town called Keswick.  If you look at a map we are at the bottom of Lake Simcoe and the town sits on the shores of Cooks Bay.  We are about 50 minutes from downtown Toronto.  Close enough but far enough away!  I have been married for 20 years to my supportive husband Jason and we have a nine year old son named Britton.  We also had another son, Devon, who we lost due to heart complications ten years ago. He was a beautiful boy and we miss him daily.

I have been overweight most of my adult life and kept all the weight from both pregnancy on my butt and hips.  In the past few years I have been diagnosed with Type II diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesteral, thyroid and last but not least depression (could it be from all the pills I had to take)?  At 230 lbs I was considered a light weight for RNY but I knew I had to do it to get off of three meds for diabetes and to stop it from progressing.  I had RNY on Jan 7/2010 with Dr. Grandcharov at St. Mike's hospital in Toronto.   No complications and I have not looked back since.  As of today, May 12th, I am down 58 lbs and have been off half of my meds since the day after surgery.   As my weight decreased I expect my remaining meds to be weaned off as well.  Solely based on my experience I would recommend this surgery to anyone who wants to listen!  I couldn't be happier with the results so far to date and look forward to a fun filled summer in shorts!  I do not hide from mirrors or cameras anymore!

Take care,

Paula
