Moving Along

Jul 16, 2010

Next week on the 22nd of July will be my 1 month post op anniversary and I will tell you that I am feeling so much better than even last week. The pain in my side is almost gone and it only hurts when I lay a certain way or move the wrong way. I have had a couple of goals that I met this week so I am feeling especially good. 1. I can wear my wedding ring again because my fingers have shrunk enough to slip it on. It is the first time I have been able to wear it in a few years so I am happy about that. 2. I can paint my toenails because my stomach has gone down enough so I can reach them. Right now they are sparkle pink. ;D.

Since my highest weight (255) I have lost 35lbs and since surgery 19lbs.

2 Week Post-Op

Jul 06, 2010

I am 2 weeks post op today and I still have pain in my left side. I am not sure if it is gas or my muscle that was cut. It is like a burning pain that mostly hurts at night. It is still difficult for me to sleep on anything but my back. I have been reading some posts about pain in the forum and decided that it is normal and I won't worry until four weeks out.

I weighed 239lbs on the day of my surgery and today I weigh 222lbs. I can really tell the difference in my face and stomach. I am still afraid to try too many different foods, but I have figured out that I cannot tolerate chicken. I have been eating a lot of fish, fruits and vegetables.  I havn't been taking my vitamins like I should because they are really strong and twang my jaw. I do try to choke them down though because I know that I need to take them.

I was losing about 2lbs per day as soon as my swelling went down after surgery and it was very exciting, but I have noticed that I have not been losing it as quickly now so I have decided to not weigh myself every day because I was getting anxious and stressed out if I didn't lose any weight from the previous day. My biggest fear is that I will plateau and not lose any more weight and still be obese.

Out and About

Jun 27, 2010

Not really about but definately out. I am not going to lie, it was painful and even though I had it done laproscopic RNY. The medical gas they put in you is so painful to pass I wanted to die. All I can say is walk, walk, and walk some more. I am still not able to dring more than 6 ounces at a time even though they wanted me to get up to eight on the 2nd day. 2 tbsps was the first amoutn of liquid I could hold at a time so I did make some progress. Today, I went to the store and purchased sugar free, fat free everything liquid. including italian ice, pudding cups, jello cups, popsicles, crystal light, decaf coffee, water, milk and now I feel better and have plenty of food to eat when I do get hungry. I got my vitamins and protein from Unjury.com. I got the unflavored and the chicken soup flavor protein. The chicken soup is awesome just don't microwave the protein just add it to warmed water because it will ruin the protein. I need to exeriment with the unflavored proteion a little more. I heard that bariatricadvantage.com has some really good vitamin flavors so I will order from them when I run out of the Opurity vitamins.
I weighed 239 going into surgery and now 5 days out I weigh 234 so it has been about a pound a day. and I havn'e been able to lose past 237 since my daughter was born! My highest weight was 255.

Total Surgery Cost

Jun 14, 2010

I just found out today that my insurance is going to cover everything at 100% because I have met my out-of-pocket expense after I pay $518.25 when I meet with the annestheologist tomorrow the 15th. So with the $518.25, I will have paid $1825.25 in total and that includes all of my co-pays for the doctor's visits, the nutritionist visit, the evaluation with the psychologist and the $600.00 fee that Emory requires for post-operative visits. I am happy because I thought it was going to cost so much more and I was so stressed about it.

Worried about surgery costs.

Jun 12, 2010

A lady from Emory called me yesterday and told me that my out-of-pocket expense for RNY surgery will over $9000. My insurance only pays 80%. She said that she will send me a package in the mail. I hope they don't expect me to pay it all before the surgery on the 22nd. I guess this will be my new car payment if they let me make payments! I had hoped that my insurance would pay more for surgery. I hope this surgery will be worth it.

Surgery Date Scheduled

Jun 03, 2010

I met with the surgeon yesterday and reviewed all of my tests for surgery clearance. Everything looks great (except my nicotine level was a little high. *wink* I meet with the anesthesiologist on the 15th of June and my surgery is scheduled for the 22nd of June. I am so excited to get this horrible weight off of me! I am scheduled as the first case and need to be at the hospital at 6am. Hey, the sooner the better right? I wish I could snap my fingers and be three months post op right now. I know that I will have to go through the hard part though. I just want my life back.
