I'm Still Here!!

It's been quite a while since my last post.  A lot has been going on.  I have had some major changes in my life this year.  One big one is that I started a new job in February.  It has been a major undertaking.  I took the position of nurse manager for a group of doctors that have formed an ambulatory surgery center.  We have started this literally from the ground up!  Another change is that my oldest daughter moved out on her own this summer and is doing great!  Last but definitely not least, my surgery!!  It has been an amazing journey so far.  As of this morning, I am only 45 lbs from my goal.  I am almost 7 months post op and I'm down 88 lbs!  I feel great!!  I never dreamed that I would be this size again.  If I never loose another pound, I'm thrilled with what I have done.  Mom and I just went for our "6 mo" check up this week and things were great!  There has not been one day that I have regretted my decision to do this.  I would do it again in a heart beat!!

I'm Ready for Some Vegetables!!

I am on my last week of the four weeks of nothing but proteins.  I can't wait to have a few vegetables and fruits!!  You know what they say, you don't realize how much you miss something until it's gone.  I have almost burned myself out on refried beans!  Although, I am still enjoying my morning egg.  I have decided to just weigh myself 2 times a week.  I weighed this morning and I'm down to 246, which is 27 lbs lost!!  I can't say enough about how much better I feel.  I just realized that I have lost the 10% that they tell you to loose, for starters.  I've got to focus on small steps instead of the big, big picture!!  I would like to loose another 15 lbs by this time next month.  I'll check back later with my progress.

The Scale is Moving Down Again!

Well, I'm glad to report that my scale has started to move downward again.  For the last couple of days, I haven't lost anything, just stayed the same.  I figured out what was going on, I decided that I had put my body in starvation mode!!  For the past few days I hadn't been getting in the amount of protein that was recommended (60-70g).  That was the only thing that was different, I hadn't eaten anything I wasn't supposed to, I have been drinking my water and exercising 4-5 days/week.  Well, the last 2 days, I've made sure to get all my protein in, and today I dropped 1 1/2 lbs!!  This puts me just 1/2 lb shy of 20 lbs lost!!

Two weeks post-op!!

I am now 2 weeks post op!! I can't believe how well things have gone!  I have started exercising since seeing Dr. Hoehn for my post op visit.  Lauren, Mom and I have joined a new women's fitness place that just opened at the beginning of this month, Sonya Joe's.  We have started using the weight machines there, going every other day.  On the off days, I am walking ont he tread mill for 30 minutes in the weight loss mode.  I'm working muscules that haven't been worked in years!!!
