Had my surgery April 28th and so far so good!!  I am home, sipping, walking, exactly what they told me  to do.  I am feeling really better than I ever expected.  I am getting around great.  I am just soooo happy right now.  I go back to the Dr. on the 12th and will have my first weigh in so hopefully I will get great news there.  Then will start the Phase II of the Liquid diet.  Yeah!!!  I did really like my Dr.  She is a caring compassionate person.  However, I did not think I received that good of care in the hospital, but these days everything is mostly automated and you are just a number!!!  But, I absolutely don't care, I am home now, and caring for myself and doing a good job.  Put a little make up on today and went to Walmart!!!!  Feeling good so far!!!

I got the phone call Monday!!  Surgery date is scheduled!!  I cannot believe it is happening so fast!!!  My surgery date is April 26th with Dr. Courculous!!  I am excited and scared at the same time!!!  I go down to see the surgeoun Monday, March 14th to finalize everything!!  This is really going to happen!!!!

Went for my nurtrition and psych evaluations today.  They both went well.  All my testing is done now.  I go to see the surgeon on March 14th.  And hopefully, soon after I can move forward and get a date soon!!!  So wanting to get this done!!!

Did my stress test on Wednesday and they called with the results today.  Everything was great.  Then I had my endoscope today and the Dr. told me he had to remove a small lump from my esophagus.  He will send it away to be checked for cancer cells and let me know.  However, he is pretty sure it is benign.  Anyway, all my pre op tests are done except for nutrition and psych and that will happen on the 28th of February and then my appointment on March 14th with the surgeon and then hopefully will get a date soon after!!!  Waa Hoo!!!  It's really happening!!!

I got a call today.  My stress test is scheduled for February 7th, at 8:00.  This was the last of the tests to get scheduled before I go to see the surgeon.  I hope my tests all come out OK.  I have so tried to diet the past week and I just cannot seem to stay on it.  It is scaring me!!!  Tomorrow I have to start keeping a journal to take to the nutrition appointment so I hope I can manage to stay on a 1200 calorie diet till then.  Wish me luck!!!

So happy to hear from my PCP today.  Got my Upper GI scheduled for Monday, January 31st.  My consultation with the Gastroenterologist is February 1st, got my lab work done yesterday.  Waiting to hear when my stress test will be scheduled..has to authorized by my insurance company.  Seems as though things are falling into place!!!  So happy.
Will post more as I get more done.

Went to my endocrinologist yesterday and he was thrilled that I am going through with WLS.  My AC1 was a little high.  He would like it down to 7.0 before the surgery.  Starting tomorrow I am going to really try to diet, watch my carbs, and start to drink more water.

Went to see my PCP today.  Wasn't feeling too well at all.  Blood pressure was up and he was concerned.  He did say he would have his staff schedule my Endoscopy, Upper GI, and my stress test.  I  got my EKG and Chest x-ray done.  Yeah, two steps closer!!!  Just will have to wait until the other tests get scheduled and for the psych and nutrition appointments.  Then off to see the Dr. in March and hopefully then will be closer to getting a surgery date!!!  Just hoping nothing happens and my testing comes out OK!!!!

Well, here we are a year later, and I have insurance now to cover weight loss surgery.  I definitely have decided to have the gastric bypass instead of the lap band.  I know my PCP is not going to agree with me, but I need to do what is best for me.  I am now on an insulin pump and with the gastric bypass I will be able to retire the pump for good!!!  Have made my appointments for my psych and nutrition appointments, and later this month I will be making my appointments for my stress tests, my upper GI, and an endoscopy.  Have done all  these before so I am not too concerned with having them done again.  Just be glad to get them over with and get on with this process so I can get a surgery date!!!!

Just hope nothing happens again.  I so need this surgery to get healthy!!!  Will keep posting...this site is wonderful and I have been lurking on here now since 2002.  I was scheduled for surgery back in 2003, and had a near death experience right before my date caused me to have to cancel the surgery and I have been trying ever since!!!!  This better be the year!!!

Well, I guess it is not in the cards for me to have weight loss surgery.  Friday, my husband, who carried the insurance lost his job permanently.  We won't have insurance to cover the surgery after the 31st of this month.  I have insurance where I work, but they have an exclusion clause that they do not cover weight loss surgery.  I am sooooooooooooo upset.  I cried and cried.  I did call my Dr. 's office, to let them know the surgery was off, and they encouraged me to attend the last two weigh in classes in case we would happen to get insurance within the next year or so.  So I guess that is good.  I will be going down to Pittsburgh on Monday for that weigh in.  I just cannot believe this happened.

Went to my PCP today for a check up and to discuss whether I should go with the Lap Band Surgery or the Gastric Bypass route.  And I still am torn with what to do.  There are so many things to think about.  I wish someone would make up my mind for me!!!
