When you decided to have surgery, who did you not tell?

I can say that I did not tell my in-laws and I almost did not tell my mother, and here's why:
The decision to have surgery is one that is very difficult to make. As I got closer and closer to the date, I was very scared and very nervous. However, despite how I was feeling, my mind was made up. I knew what I had to do. People have various opinions about the surgery and often embellish the complications that rarely occur, as if you had not already considered those possibilities.
At any rate, now that I have completed the surgery, I have decided to discuss it or at least let my family know that I had the surgery done (completed Laproscopic RNY 11/2/10). This way my husband can stop telling people that I had foot surgery (lol). Everyone knew that I had gone to the hospital and he did his best to respect my decision to not let everyone know what I was doing right at that moment.
