Decatur General Hospital

"My doctors were excellent, Dr. Adams is top of the line, he even came to see me on his day off, on Christmas Eve, he didn't have to do that, but he came to see me and check on me because I was going to have to spend Christmas in the hospital because of all the complications I had, the nurses could use a little more training on dealing with WLS patients. I did have two nurses named Cindy that visited me quite often during the day and another nurse named Barbara, at night .Cindy had WLS surgery too, she was really sweet and she helped me any way she could. So I guess to sum it up, its not all bad, but the bad comes with the good."

Gregory Adams

"My first impression of Dr. Adams was that the best interest of his patients is his top priority. I only had my consultation yesterday, but what made him different than the other doctors I have seen is he really makes sure that you know what you are getting into. I feel like he is very qualified at what he does, and I have 110% confidence in him. He is really personable, and he will do what he can to help you. During the consultation, he explained everything in detail, as to how the surgery is performed, the risks involved, and he even showed us the insturment they used to do this procedure. One thing that really stands out about him is that I live 4 hours away and I have to do my preop tests, and instead of me driving 4 hours again, he got in touch with a cardiolgist for me in Columbus, and called me himself to let me know about the physcian that he had referred me to. Not many doctors will call you personally, most doctors I know have "their people" call you. That really impressed me. His office staff are just wonderful people, they really go out of their way to help you with insurance, preop tests, anything you need, and they are always nice and friendly. I would rate Dr. Adams and his staff a 15 on a scale of 1-10 at this point of my journey.I have a long way to go yet, but my first impressions have been nothing but wonderful."

Roy Thomas

"Dr. Thomas is a good listener, he wants what is best for you, and he works with you to help you in any way possible. With WLS, he is very open minded, and he always emphasises to check your surgeon out, be sure he is qualified to perfom these procecdures. He is very attentive, and if you need meds, if he has samples, he will give them to you to save $$ for you. "

Clyde Sheehan

"I was going in for a psycholigical evaluation for my WLS, and when he asked me about my past, I burst into tears, growing up obese was so painful for me emotionally, long story short, he said I was severely depressed and recommended that I deal with that first before going into the emoitional challenges of WLS. He was right, I am on antidepressants, and I am working through my past, so that I can get well and move on to my new life."
