Hi Sharee. Well, looks like we are going to be "walking" buddies! Surgery sisters sharing the same journey on the same day! I am so excited, and yes, a little nervous. My husband had the surgery 12/5/05. I have watched his journey and think maybe that has calmed any fears I may have had, but the butterflies are still floating around in my soon to be "smaller" tummy! I am not sure if what I am feeling is nervousness or just shear anticipation, kinda like waiting to go to DISNEY for the first time! Dana, my husband has lost 91 pounds so far and is doing great! He has gone from sedentary lifestyle to walking up to 7 miles, which I find remarkable. I think besides his own personal determination to make this work, the fact that he is sticking strickly to the protein and water requirements gives him that extra energy boost to walk. I cant do the walks yet, suffer from terrible hip and back pain, but hope to be free of that horrible creature very soon! I may be going through Motrin withdrawal, though. I guess I never realized what a great pain reliever that pill was~! Oh well, no more! I am going to be using UNJURY protein supplements along with ISOPURE Carb FREE liquid drinks. These worked great for Dana, and I have lost 15 pounds so far just adding the protein to my diet, along with reducing the carbs. Looking back at Dana's surgery, he really didnt seem to have a problem getting in the liquids, but it is something we have to put as a first priority as well as the protein drinks. The rest will just follow. We will be available to you by phone, anytime you need to talk, or need help. He is my couch and I am sure he will be glad to guide you along, too! We will be at the support group meeting in Pensacola tonight (4/5/06), look forward to meeting you. Just think, before you know it, the weight will be falling off and you will be walking pain free, enjoying life! What a great motivator!
Take care, see you soon. Patti M
