I feel like a poster child for WLS
Feb 11, 2009
It has been 4 months since my surgery and I am a new woman. I had the surgery in a effort to help with my Type II Diabetes. I was taking 4 insulin shot each day as well as taking 2 Metformin pills. I had a CPAP machine for sleep apnea and was on medication for my high blood pressure. Iam off all of those things now... no insulin, no CPAP, no antihypertensives. I have more energy than I had pre-op, but would be lyingif I said thinking about food was not a huge part of my day. The difference is, instead of beating myself up about what I had just eaten or tricking myself into believing that chocolate was one of the four basic food groups, I now spend my time being sure that I have had enough protein and water each day. (I like the new mode much better). I have good tolerance for most all foods (except ground turkey) and can still eat the hot and spicy stuff I love. Blessings to Dr. Gens and the Bariatric staff as well as to the staff of PRH. They have given me MYSELF back!
