17 months post surgery

May 18, 2010

I can't believe it's been almost a year since I posted my 1st blog on Obesity Help.  My journey is still not complete.  I've lost 93 lbs and seem to be stalled.  I know in my heart of hearts it is all my fault.  I had rotator cuff surgery and have used that as an on going excuse that is halting me to take off a few more lbs.  I'm not gaining but I do want to lose more.  I've also talked about having both arm and a tummy tuck surgery for all the lose skin I now have.  I'm considering doing some counseling classes to deal with my acceptance issues of exactly who I am.  Sometimes I feel like where have I gone in this entire process.  I'm happy to be able to buy smaller clothes and exercise, walk and generally move so much easier.  But I think I'm lacking something to make myself like myself more.  Wish me luck and keep me in your prayers.

Pat's Weight Loss Journey

Jun 15, 2009

I'm a life transformation in progress.  I've been overweight since the day I was born I do believe.  I know I was a 9 lb baby.  I'm feeling like a new person since my lap band surgery on December 2, 2008.  As of today June 16, 2009 I'm down 75 lbs but I still have a way to go to have it all off.   I'm simply amazed how quickly and realatively easy the weight has come off.  The hunger is gone but the cravings are still there so it's a mind altering process still to control those cravings.  But the lapband tool works.

I'm a retired Senior Software Engineer - mother of 4 - grandmother of 8 - and great grandmother of 1 at the present time.  Seems like our family continues to grow and grow.  My husband Jim retired from the US Air Force after 22 years service.  I traveled and worked along side him all those years traveling the world.  We retired from the AF in 1985 and both continued to work for the next 18 years in Pasadena, MD.  Both of us worked Department of Defense contractors in and around Ft Meade, MD.  Since retiring again in 2002 - we moved to Walkerton, VA.  I now run a home based web design business from home.  It keeps me busy and I still sorta feel like I'm in the work day world.

Jim and I have made and still retain many friendships from our work years.  We've been blessed with good memories and a healthy family that we love dearly.

My weight loss is letting me feel younger and more in tune with these younger grandchildren I now love to play with.
