Aloha, my name is Puna and I live on the beautiful island of Kaua'i with my DH and 2 DD! I'm an Office Manager for a private medical practice and I enjoy singing Praise & Worship music. My WLS journey is taking a little longer than I expected but one year and 2 denials later, I've been APPROVED! Surgery is scheduled for 7/8/09 and the neat thing is my sister is having her surgery on the same day!!! I'm looking forward to my new life...
I was never "skinny" but I was "toned" and athletic when I was in High School. While I was in school I think I weighed 130 lbs. at the most. Once I stopped playing sports, the weight began to creep up on me and getting pregnant didn't seem to help the situation either. So 12 years later, 2 awesome kids and 2 marriages later, I weighed in at 225 lbs. at my highest (the emotional eating is what took me over the top). My biggest motivation is to get healthy so that I can be around for my girls. I lost my dad when he was 41 years old and I'm only 11 years younger than he was when he passed away. He was a big man with a big heart but because he didn't have medical insurance, he never went to the doctor. In the end, it was his heart that killed him. I miss him so much and it makes me so sad that my girls aren't able to physically have him in their lives. I don't want my girls to ever have to feel that kind of sadness, especially if it's something that I can prevent. I know this is what I need to do to ensure a healthier future, not only for myself but for my family as well!!!
