I'm 53 yrs old; married to my best friend; mom to one son, step mom to 2 sons; grandmother to 6, with 3 more on the way. Weight has been an issue for me all of my adult life, but has gotten really out of control in the past 10 years. For a long time it was mostly just troubling to my vanity, but now it's compromising my health and quality of life. I've considered WLS for about 2 years and finally gathered up the courage to move forward with it. Since I assumed I would have to pay out of pocket, it came as a pleasant surprise that my insurance policy would cover it. My surgury date is 7/28 for gastric bypass.
I know that this is going to be hard work, but for the first time in years I'm feeling optimistic about getting to a normal size and staying there. I can't wait to get this show on the road!
