Wow, in less than two months it will be a year since I've had surgery.  The time has flown.  I've lost close to a hundred lbs& gained a new granddaughter.  FOr some reason I still do not have a lot of energy.  I hope in the spring this will change.  I'm blaming it on the weather for now.

I have been so busy I haven't been on this site for a long time.  This quarter in school I am taking philosophy.  It's much harder than I thought it would be and consumes the majority of my time.

Hope everyone is doing well.  Di

ps  I weigh about 145 now and can wear an 8.  woo hoo

REAL FOOD

Jun 09, 2007

Ok, Tomorrow is my 10th week after surgery and I can begin regular food...Yeah, right, I have already been testing those waters a little.  I think I'll move very slowly and carefully.  I need to focus on some fruits and veggies now that I have protein pretty well mastered.

Hope everyone out there is doing well.

6 weeks and doing well

May 19, 2007

I am doing really well.  I have moved to soft food and tolerate it well.  I have found I do best with chicken as far as meats.  I have loss 29 lbs since seeing the weight loss doctor....and had lost weight prior to that this year, for a total of about 50 lbs.  I have no regrets!  Well, maybe one...wish I had done it sooner.  SMILE

1 month post op

May 04, 2007

I am one month post op this week.  I also returned to work on May 3rd, exactly one month after the day of my surgery.  It is kicking my butt!  Thank God I only had to work two days this first week.  Next week I have to work five days.  The first night after working I went to bed at 7:30 pm.  At the end of the work day today my abdomen and my back were hurting.  I guess I'm overdoing it, but it's hard not to.  As long as I follow the pureed diet I am not having any nausea and never really have had a vomiting problem.  My wounds are healing although I still was able to remove a suture tonight.  The wounds seem to do better after those sutures come out.  I really haven't had any significant problems.  I suppose the worse was a tendency toward constipation which is improving daily.  Gotta run, battery dying on my computer.  God bless

Post Surgery 12 days

I feel really good and can drink all my protein and water now in a day.  I have mid back pain that is worse than any surgery symptoms at this point.  I've lost at least 11 lbs since surgery and lost 6 the week prior to surgery.  It's so exciting!  I am looking forward to pureed foods on day 21.....I was beginning to get bored so had fresh carrot juice with a little apple today.  I added beneprotein to it and it was good.  The stuff actually mixes pretty well with the juice.

Post Surgery

Hi, I am almost one week post surgery and doing well, other than finding the need for phillips due to constipation.  I have no scale in my home.  I will know if I've lost anything on Thurs when I have my first recheck.  I found I cannot eat 60 gms of protein a day yet.  I was trying so hard.  Now I am just trying to stay comfortable and not worry about it but keep moving toward the goal.

Two days ago if you'd asked me I would have told you that people who have this surgery have suffered from temporary insanity.  Be encouraged, those feelings are so temporary.  Every day I am feeling better.

God bless, Dian

post surgery

Hi all, I am post surgery for 4 days. It's been rough.  I cannot stomach all the liquid protein they have requested I drink ,so am focusing on staying hydrated with small ice cubes.  Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers,  Dian

Ok, it took from Dec. to March for approval.  I had to jump through a few of the expected hoops.  I saw a dietician 3 times, dieted and had all the test, like psych, etc.  I ended up having to have a cardiac cath due to an abnormal test, but it turned out normal.  God is good!

I have two full days to go and then surgery!  It's been difficult doing the presurgery diet but the doctor and staff says it shrinks your liver thereby making the surgery easier and safer.  I am having the lap done.  My BMI right now is between 40 & 41 but has been as high as 44.

My sister wants to have the surgery too, so you praying folks pray she gets approval and especially that her insurance will pay for it.  We were hoping to do it close together because we are going to Jamacai in Sept. but she will have to wait a while.  Praying for a miracle for her, that it be sooner than she expects.
