Hello all...it's me. After 12 days in the hospital and many highs and lows, I am finally at home in my own bed. Praise God!! I am still feeling so tired and weak, but I feel MUCH better than I did a week ago. Today is 2 weeks exactly from my surgery, but my doctor is treating me as if I were 3 days out. He says he is going to "baby" me due to all of the complications I have had. I am on a clear liquid diet and will be for about 2 weeks. He wants to keep me on liquids only until my 6 weeks mark as a precaution and says we may be looking at endoscopy to enlarge my stoma. As you may have gathered from my friend's posts, I developed a stricture immediately after the surgery and my pouch would not empty. So, the same day that I had the ng-tube removed, it was put back in (while I was awake!). I kept that for an additional 9 days and was also given tube feeding through my g-tube up until the day I came home. Dr. Deturris wants to keep my g-tube in until 6 weeks out in case any other complications arise. I have been through a lot of unexpected turns, but God has stayed with me all the way! My doctor has been so wonderful and I feel very lucky to have him as my surgeon! I am also very thankful and blessed to have such great friends that have been here every step of the way supporting me and praying for me and keeping all of you posted. Big thanks and hugs to all who have kept me in your thoughts and prayers...it has really helped me through this! : )

Hey Rachelle - Sorry to hear you have had a rough time. You were in the room right across the hall from me, but the few times I tried to stop by you were out of it....I went home on Friday 05/17/02 and didn't get a chance to stop by and say HI. Hope you continue to improve and I will talk to you soon. Sharon

*ANGEL UPDATE* I talked to Rachelle today she is doing much better. They took the tube out of her nose but she still has the feeding tube in her belly. The doctor is wanting to see how it works with her sipping water. She said she is in no pain and is feeling MUCH better! She has been working on word puzzles and getting up and walking around. She sends a message to all-

*ANGEL UPDATE* Just talked to Rachelle. Barium is still not moving so doctor is wanting to see if saliva will move- will run another test on Wednesday then they will decide from there- BUT the doctors can not go and perform any invasive procedures for another 6 weeks. So... she would have the tube for that time period. She isnt sure if that would be a hospital stay or if she can go home during that time period. More updates later-she continues to ask for prayers as she goes through this time. stormie 5-21 1pm

*ANGEL UPDATE* Rachelle may have to go back into surgery- the barium is not moving in her stomach. Tube is still in her nose doing the draining for her. On Wednesday the doctor will do the test again with the barium and see if there is any improvement. If not... well Rachelle will have another surgery to make the pouch bigger. I am sorry for the "not so techincal terms" but Rachelle is really droggy and tired when Jamie is talking to her. And the information is dorectly from Rachelle. I will give more info later. Rachelle is asking for LOTS OF PRAYERS!!! Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she is getting over this hurdle. stormie 5-21 8:15am

*ANGEL UPDATE* I have heard from others that Rachelle is doing ok. Heard from Jamie that on Saturday the doctors decided to put the tube back in her nose (not sure exactly what that means) I will get clarification today from Rachelle or Michael. Heard from another friend of Rachelle's today that she called yesterday and Rachelle was sleeping... today is when she is suppose to come home- not sure about that. Will find out and do another update. FYI- she is in room 303. stormie :) 5-20 12noon
