God Bless you exceedingly and abundantly above all you could dream possible! Thank you Father for guiding her doctor's hands, and all you come in contact with her. I praise you and thank you for a perfect surgery and outcome for this your child. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN and AMEN! Deborah

Tomorrow I have to go to the hospital at 8pm. I am going to spend the night there and the next morning, at 7:30am I'm having my surgery. Yes, I am getting nervous and excited and back to nervous. Does anyone know if I will be able to get something to sleep (to knock me out)? Do I have to call my doctor or do I just ask the folks at the nurses' station to inquire for me?

Ok. For purposes of keeping records of my experience and for anybody who may be wondering.... I had my pre-op visit today, as well as my stress test. They both went rather well. I visited with the program coordinator first and he answered all my remaining questions. He also gave me a binder wiht all the pertinent information, which is wonderful so I can share it with my husband. He also set up appointments to see me after my surgery for follow up care. I don't know how this could be done without follow-up care (I've heard stories! luckily, my doctor offers this wonderful program with a very thorough follow-up care). Afterwards, I visited with my doctor. He told me that I need to go to three protein shakes + a multivitamin. THAT'S IT. No more food for me until next Tuesday. He wants to make sure my liver is nice and small by the time he operates on me. Gotta tell ya, I was not prepared for that. I mean, I was on a high protein, low carb diet (three shakes + 1 healthy choice per day) the past week and I was expecting to continue that until my surgery day. So far I lost 6 pounds this week alone (never lost that much so fast!!) so I was thrilled, but I guess it's not enough when you are diabetic: your liver is big... so you're out of luck. Ok. I have not cheated once on this diet since I started, but after I left my appointments, I must confess I got me apples with caramel dip and corn nuts. Not the best choice, I must admit, but all in all, not the worst either. I finished the apples and had about 1/2 pack of the cornuts. This is my way of saying goodbye to eating w/o thinking anything of it. I know I will abide by my diet until next tuesday... I just had to do this just once more. Had my stress test and went fine. All I have to do know is wait until next Tuesday. I must be at the hospital by 5:30am. Yikes! Hugs, PATRICIA
