6 MONTHS POST OP !!!!!

Dec 15, 2008

Today is my 6 month anniversary and I have lost 79.6# since walking in to the hospital.... I still can't believe it.  I saw the dietician, Internal Med. Dr. and my wonderful surgeon, Dr. Krause today and they all said I am right where I should be.... I just need to up my exercise is the only thing I have been a little slacking at lately !!!  I still have no hunger, still only able to eat a small amt at a time, but I rarely throw up anymore and I have found that the only time that happens is with beef and occasionally hamburger, other than that, no food issues !!!  I actually bought a size 12 jeans today...... can't remember the last time that size fit !!!  The weird thing is, is that I still find myself drawn to the "Womens" clothing section and everything is too big.... I should be overjoyed at that... it's just that for the past 10 years, that is where I have shopped and I need to reprogram myself that I don't have to do that anymore.  Like I tell people when they ask.....  this postop experience is all about dealing with the "mind" more than anything... and that's ok, its just that things happen so fast (as far as weight loss, new sizes... ) with this type of "diet"... it really takes time for your mind to catch up.  Well, enough rambeling.... I still am soooooo happy I had this done, I feel terrific and never want to go back to where I was !!!!  Until next time......

12 weeks Post-op

Sep 21, 2008

Well, tommorrow is my 12 week anniversary of my surgery and I feel GREAT !!!  My highest weight (2 weeks preop) was 256.7, day of surgery 250.9 and today I am 197.4...... so 53.5 lbs gone forever !!!!  The surgery went well..... actually discarged less than 24hour after arriving to my room from recovery and I can say all in all the last 12 weeks have gone pretty good.  This process is a lot more challenging that I had realized as far as the eating goes... its still hard to comprehend getting so full so fast.... its not that I am hungry or craving anything (still have no appetite at all yet), it just takes some time for your head to catch up to eating small portion sizes.  I have had some issues with throwing up..... no rhyme or reason to what makes that happen.... just sometimes certain things don't want to "digest" and end up coming back out, sometimes even after an hour or two.  The only thing I have a hard time with is all the drinking.... I never was a big fluid drinker preop, so post op, that has been my biggest challenge getting all the fluids in...... but I try every day to improve on that !!!  Other than that..... I'm glad at this point I made the decision to do this..... and I wish myself continued success !!!!!!
