Today is January 29th.

I have to thank Dr. Jon Schram for the great work. What I loved most about Dr. Jon Schram is he took the time to say a prayer with me before surgery. He is truly an amazing caring doctor!!!
I had Open RNY surgery on Monday Jan. 21/08.  I was up and walking around the next day. By Wed. I was discharged and on my way home!!  I am getting stronger with every passing day! The staff at the Barix clinic in Ypsilanti, MI took great care of me!! I would strongly recommend anyone to visit the clinic if you are thinking of having this surgery.
First time I can actually look forward to the future. I am envisioning me healthier and getting out to enjoy life, rather letting life pass me by.  I can't believe how much energy I have already. I want to wake up in the morning and I can't wait til I get clearance from Dr. Jon Schram to start my exercise routine. I love to swim so I will start there.

I am also trying very hard to eat my protein allowance for the day.  I found it difficult at first. Now I have introduced my taste buds to the protein shakes and I just love the Apple Shake with the Vanilla Matrix... yummy!! I also love the caribbean cooler nectar to mix with my crystal light.

My motivation to lose the weight was always to get and be healthy, to prevent medical problems and be here for my family. When I was younger and would fail at dieting, it didn't seem too bad and life went on. I always "had time" and would eventually try again. I was going to lose the weight before I was twenty, then thirty, and so on.(right?)  Now, I am near my 40’s and health problems are creeping into my life.
I've had a long journey and had to overcome many obstacles along the way...mainly with my PCP. She doesn't believe in this surgery and was trying to discourage me for over 1 year. Stalling my paperwork etc. Wow! I can't believe that on January 21/08 I will finally be on the road to weightloss!
