Wow, my story.... where oh where do I start.... 
I have always been told and thought I was a "Big" girl even when I was so skinny my bones showed... but that happens when your Mom is 5'2 and 90lbs and you take after your Nordic 6'3 180lbs father.
After many emotional challenges in life I found food to be my reward and comfort for surviving it all. I finally thought my life had settled down in 1988 when I married a man that promised the world. The next year came with tragic results. My father passed away suddenly in May and the Loma Prieta Earthquake hit a few months later while we lived in the heart of it all. As we attempted to run for safety from all the shaking, falling debris, and confusion we learned we were homeless till they could dig out a path over the hill to San Jose and my family. My in-law's Santa Cruz home had partially fallen down the hill, so until we could escape our shaky outdoor living we had to rescue all we could from their remaining home. Once we got to San Jose we learned I was not only pregnant, but do to the trauma I was starting to miscarry. There was no way I was going to lose my miracle baby, so I instantly changed my tragic year to a blessed mission to save him. He is now 20 years old. 
The next year my husband decided suddenly he wanted to be single, so I found myself a single Mom of the best kid ever. The next ten years consisted of annual court dates, physical pain, restraining orders, counseling, and so much more emotional eating.
I remarried 9 years ago to a wonderful man but unfortunately we both had many challenges in our past we had bad eating habits in common.
SO! ... Now I am 50 years old and my aches and pains are winning the game.... so, now it is time to make that change and begin my life for the next 50 years.
