I finally had my first initial consultation with Dr. Vanek and his staff. My husband was required to come along also. We both learned a lot of what we already knew just from doing our own research but the nutritionist and bariatric counselor were extremely informative. I still have to get a bone density scan and an upper scope and then it's off to the 2 hour nutrtional class and attending one support group meeting. Then we can start with insurance proceedings---oh joy--can't wait. I really hope I will not have to do an appeal. Only time will tell. Dr. Vanek said if things go smoothly I can be scheduled for some tim e in January or February!! Scared and Thrilled all at the same time...more soon.

I had my appointment today with psychologist. I'm Sane! Can't wait to have my first consultation with the surgeon. I've crossed most of the hurdles I just hope my insurance doesn't put up a big fight.

My first blog! I have my first consultation with surgeon for lap band on 10-10-07 and am so excited. I have done everything I was supposed to before my first appt. I have 6 months physician supervised diet, the sleep apnea testing and the breathing capacity testing. I saw the psychologist for the first time last week and took the "test" that determines if I'm sane enough to have lapband. I find out the results this week. Looking forward to it, but still a little nervous. She was a very easy person to talk to but that test was a bit much. I suppose it is necessary but some of the questions are bizarre! I just hope everything continues to go smooth. I've never been so scared and excited about something. I can't wait to start to live and feel healthy!
