2 Months...A little late

Jun 30, 2009

Well I am really enjoying my sleeve. I am down 67 lbs as of today. I am out of the 300s which was my first goal!! My second goal is 250 because that is what I weighed when I got pregnant with my daughter. I am doing really well. I don't really have head hunger. The only thing I have to fight as of lately is my strong craving for a cold coke. I guess because it is so hot outside and there is nothing better than a cold fountain coke on a hot summer day in southern Louisiana. But I have not had one, so that is good.
I have been exercising everyday since school let out. I'm at the gym everyday by 9:30. I do about 50 minutes of cardio and this week I just started weight training.
So anyone looking to have the sleeve....GO FOR IT!! It has really saved my life.

HOME AND SLEEVED

Apr 16, 2009

I was sleeved Monday morning. I can't say enough wonderful things about Woman's Hospital in Baton Rouge and Dr. Hargroder. It was a wonderful experience. The internist that saw me was a little bit of a disappointment but not enough to ruin my experience. He did however keep me in the hospital waiting on him for over 4 hours. I could've been gone by 11:00 if I wouldn't have been waiting on him, and he never showed up.

Anyways...I'm feeling great at 4 days post op. Sleeping has been a little difficult. I start out in my bed, but the past 2 nights have ended up in the living room on my recliner. I'm able to get in liquids throughout the day no problem, I just having been getting in 64 oz. I've been alternating between water and Isopure clear so I can get my protein in. I find if I drink too quickly I get little gas bubbles.

All in all so far the experience has been wonderful and I couldn't be happier with my sleeve. I've already lost 10 lbs since Saturday!!

Can't wait for this journey to take me further into onderland.

Surgery Scheduled!!

Jan 29, 2009

Yesterday I had my consultation with Dr. Hargroder. My DH went with me and feels confident in my choice of Doctor and procedure. He said it is definetely the smart way to go and he was proud of me for doing all my "homework". So I scheduled my pre-op tests for April 9th and my surgery will be April 14th during my spring break!! Yah...so excited, now I just need to focus on the changes that are about to occur and prepare myself mentally for the future!!

I WAS APPROVED

Jan 08, 2009

Katie, from Dr. Hargroder's office, called me yesterday and informed me that my predetermination letter had been approved!! I was so excited and caught off guard because she sent the letter yesterday and told me it would be the end of the week before I heard anything. So to get  an approval that fast was not expected by me. I'm hoping to schedule my surgery right around my spring break, so I don't have to miss a lot of school...but if I get impatient maybe I can plan it around my Mardi Gras holidays!! Can't wait for this life changing event!

It Begins!!

Jan 06, 2009

I submitted all my insurance stuff and all my insurance is in place, meaning, I have an exclusion that will cover WLS. When I called and gave my insurance the code they said they would cover it, they told Katie (at Dr. Hargroder's office) the same thing. So the next step is my pre-determination letter stating medical necessity. Hopefully they won't see VSG and deny it. I will be pretty crushed!! So right now I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best. I should know by the end of this week. **Praying for the best**

Ready for the New Year

Dec 29, 2008

My new insurance starts Jan. 1st!! I've been waiting for this coverage with my employer because they cover WLS, my husband's company had an exclusion for NO WLS! So here I am, anxiously waiting for my new card to come in so I can submit it for verification to Dr. Hargroder's office. I'm hoping he is "in network" and things go smoothly...mostly I am hoping that my employer will cover the sleeve. I am trying to not be totally set on the sleeve but it is hard not to!  I am hoping to have the surgery in April, during my spring break, as a teacher that would be minimal time I would have to take off. If I do it during spring break I will be ready to exercise FULL FORCE when my summer break comes!! So **CHEERS** to the New Year and I look forward to tracking and posting about my progress on this journey.
