Where to begin? I was put on my first diet by a well-meaning relative (I have questioned the well-meaning part at times.) at the age of 12. I look at pics now and wonder what they were thinking. I was a normal pre-teen with about 10 lbs. extra. I lost 15 lbs. in a week on this first diet. And so my weight battle began. Men have always been attracted to me. Also at the age of 12 I was molested by the man whose children I babysat. I know in my later teen years I ate to try and hide myself from men. I was about 165 lbs. when I met my husband. He told me how sexy and beautiful I was. And again, looking at pics he was right. I hope to hit that weight again!!!! Scott is my lover and friend. Through thick and thin! And hopefully through thinner
. After the birth of my first child, my weight never went below 201. Now 20 years later at the age of nearly 41, I weigh 297. At my highest I weighed 316. I think I am in denial about my weight. In my mind, I am not fat. But when I look in the mirror, I think OMG! I'm fat. My husband always makes me feel sexy and other men still hit on me. But now my body hurts all the time. I fell over a year ago and my knee hasn't healed properly. Arthroscopic surgery has been discussed, but now I will wait until my VSG to see if I need surgery for my knee. I am so excited. I can't wait to be able to act and move as young as I feel inside. I know this is not a magic pill, but an amazing tool! I hope to sail through as so many of you have done and conquer "the beast" once and for all.
My date is set. Aug. 5th. I was pretty determined to have the Lap-Band. But when I went to meet the surgeon she recommended the VSG. I did research and I agree with her.
I now live in Israel and have not found an English speaking support group yet. If anybody would like to be my friend and give support I'd appreciate it. Please, if you have had the VSG in particular but any WLS and have advice, share it with me. I had my first set of blood tests today. I'm on my way. I'll try to keep posting.~~~Rosey13
