Brandi, I want you to know that you are in my prayers. Boy, I KNOW what it's like waiting and fighting this battle! I started researching and making dr. appts in Nov. 2001, I just got approved a week and a half ago and got my date yesterday (10/26), so it was a 2 1/2 yr battle for me so I am all too familiar to the battle. I went through 3 insurance companies and I now have UHC and was approved the first time. They take forever once they have your info, just know that but make sure it's not an exclusion. I know each individual plan is different but if you call them they may be able to tell you if it's a covered benefit needint predetrmination only. Its really hard to get ahold of someone who knows how to dig for the correct info (Keri is great) I needed a diet failure, psych eval, nutrition classes, and participation in a support group, plus the doc had to be in network. Hi Brandi~~ I saw your post on the message board and I wanted to say good luck with your WLS journey! I am not from Oregon, nor did I have to purchase insurance, but our stats are pretty much the same. (I will be 27 in June, started at 313, 5 foot 7) I had my surgery on April 23rd, and as of last week I have lost 32 lbs. Just thought I would let you know there are people out here routing for you!
