With my story I am not even sure where to begin. I started gaining weight as a sophomore in High School which is not easy on children anyway. I have been looking into weight loss surgery for over three years now and fought my corporate office for the first year. My insurance company (UHC) had no problem covering the surgery but our corporate office excluded it from our plan. I have continued to do research and attend informational meetings and have just kept my fingers crossed that someday I would make it. With all the dieting I have done over the years as we all know just comes back with a little more each time. I am now almost 36, 5 feet 5 inches tall and weight 239 pounds. My youngest child is 2 years old and a week after he was born I weighed 203 lbs. The dieting has been hard on me mentally and physically. A friend of mine turned me onto a surgeon last summer who had just done her bypass surgery and she looks great. I was considering the bypass but after careful research I am finally going to have the vertical sleeve surgery. This just seems perfect for me. Of course my insurance company will not pay for it but my wonderful husband of over six years is going to pay for it himself. I cannot tell you how excited I am. My surgery is January 25th at 12:30p.m. We will have a long drive since we are a few states away from the surgeon but it will be well worth it. My cousin is already jealous because I will be one of those skinny people. And she is already asking for my clothes. Those are one thing that I will be glad to get rid of. No more fat clothes for me!!!!!
