First Fill

Oct 05, 2008

My first fill was this past Monday, 9/29. According to the scale in the Doc's office I weighed 282 but that was at 4pm and fully dressed. This morning my WII fit said 276.2. I'll go with that. I'm not loosing as fast as I thought I would but I am loosing. Also, my cloths are really loose. Yesterday I had on some pants that I was able to take off without unzipping. I am having a lot of fun "shopping" in my closets. I have found some really nice outfits that I had forgotten all about.

2 Week Bandiversary

Sep 11, 2008

Today is my 2 week bandiversary! Yea When I got on my WII Fit this morning it told me I weigh 279.6 that's 11.9 pounds since my surgery. Yesterday was my first post-op visit with my NUT. Julie is great. We spent a lot of time talking about ways to get enough protein and calcium because I am lactose intolerant. She also told me I could start eating regular food. I went out to dinner last night with my DH. I ordered salmon and it was great. I couldn't eat it all but it was gret. The funny thing was everyone else at the table was chowing down with drinks and appetizers but I didn't feel deprived at all. One last thing. My wedding rings are getting very loose. I can make them come off by shaking my hand. I wonder if it is too soon to get them sized? I'll post a question on the forum and see what they have to say.

1st Post Op Visit

Sep 04, 2008

Today was my first post-op appointment. I swear the Doc was in the room all of two minutes. He came in, asked how I was feeling, and then told me to show him my incisions. I pulled up my shirt, he looked and said you are doing fine. See you and he was gone!!! Dang, it went by so fast I didn't even get to ask any questions. I'm sure the insurance company will be billed for a $500 office visit

I wore a real bra today

Sep 02, 2008

Today was a milestone. I had to get back to work and that required actually getting dressed and putting on a real bra. There was no way in hell I could go out with these 46 F's flopping in the breeze. I was a little worried about how it would feel because of the positioning of the incisions. I am happy to say I didn't have a problem all day!!! I had a small NSV today - my first! While I was getting dressed this morning I looked in my jewelry box for a pin and saw a ring I hadn't been able to wear for almost 2 years. Well guess what, IT FIT!!!!

One year later and its done

Aug 29, 2008

Well, its been almost exactly a year since I started this journey but I finally had my surgery two days ago (8/27). It went well. I feel great. I actually worked most of the day today. The gas is a little uncomfortable but other than that things are going fine.

One more thing

Sep 25, 2007

I attended the Obesity Help conference in San Antonio the weekend of 9/14 - 16. I was only able to attend for part of the day on Saturday but it was great!! I loved being around all of those people who understood my concerns and were willing to share. This is definately something I will try to participate in again in the future.

The Beginning

Sep 25, 2007

This is really not the beginning but this is when I finally decided to start my blog. I don't have a good history of consistently writing in Journals but we'll give this a try to see how it goes.

I actually started this journey over a month ago when I went to a lap band seminar put on by South Texas Surgeons. I was really impressed with the docs and staff, so I decided this was the place for me. Of course there is a lot of back story about things that happened before then but I will never stop writing if I try to tell all of that.

Once I made up my mind things have moved pretty fast (I am very impatient). I had my consult with Dr. Wright the following week. He had me start my pre-op diet (Atkins) then because he felt my insurance approval might come in before the end of September. My husband was with me for that visit and he asked a lot of questions.

My next step was a visit to the nutritionist - Julie. She and I had a great conversation about the diet after surgery and some other things. She gave me a binder of information. We talked about how I had been on Atkins before and lost about 80 lbs. but could not get it to work again. She let me know that it was common for that to happen.

Then I went to the Psych Consult. I really liked Dorrie. We spent a lot of time talking about evening eating triggers and follow-up after the surgery.

Now everything is done. I found out last Thursday that they have submitted everything to the insurance company. Now all I have to do is wait.
