I am a 38 year old woman. I currently teach Pre-K for chidlren with Special Needs. I had surgery on Monday December 21, 2009. My new birthday if you will! Over the years I developped diabetes, hypertension and all sorts of aches and pain. I started looking at having weight loss surgery for over ten years now. My first exposure to the surgery was a commercial that showed a chair and asked how many people think about the size of a chair when they walk into the room. That caught my attention, and I started looking into it. Fear kept me a prisoner of my weight for over ten more years! Finally, in 2005 I attended a seminar and went through the process, however, my insurance coverage ended, so that fell through. I got a job whose insurance didn't cover the surgery and felt defeated. I never gave up though, again in 2006 I started a new job, this one offered insurance coverage for the surgery, it did however neccesitate that I follow a twelve month diet plan. I guess that I wasn't as committed as I thought because, I failed to do so. After the initial let down I regained my composure and attacked the situation head-on. I did my twelve months, lost 22lbs in the process and succeeded! I am now looking forward to the new me!
