Well, where do I begin.  I am a now 28 year old woman and I have been overweight all of my life.  The one time I wore a "skinny" size was when I was about 11 and I suffered with pnuemonia for about 3 weeks and went from a size 16 pant to a size 8.  I have always been told I was cute to be a "big girl".  My grandmother used to tell me that I really needed to do something about my weight if I wanted to have a boyfriend.  My mom loved her family with food and I loved her back by eating it ALL!!  I was very smart in school and I thought I was cute :)  The one thing that always baffold me was that when I would meet a boy they thought I was cool enough to be their "little sister" but not their girlfriend .  As I got older this was still the case in most situations, however I was able to do some scattered dating because some men are into "big girls".  In November 2003 I met this guy while working in the credit union who I thought was not my type but who turned out to be everything I wanted in a man.  I fell.....hard....head over heels in love.

To fast forward the story....On Novmber 3rd, 2006, my 27th birthday, I got engaged to the man I had fallen in love with back in 2003.   We planned a spring wedding for April 27, 2007.  The planning of the wedding was extremely stressful and alot of celebrating was going on as well.   So everybody's answer to both of those situations were "Let's eat!"  By the time the wedding was over and we had moved here to the DC metro area my weight had balloned to over 300 lbs!  During my engagement my friend Lynn had gastric bypass surgery with Dr. Moazzez and we had talked about the procedure.  I had been considering bypass since 2005 and was still trying to "diet" and do it myself.  But you know that it didn't work.

I went to the doctor in May 2007 for an annual check up and blood work.  I received a call a couple of weeks later that I needed to come in to the see the doctor ASAP.  When I went to the doctor I was told that I had High blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes!  All of this at the young age of 27.  That's when I thought enough is enough I need to change my life!  So I called Lynn up and got the information to Dr. Moazzez.  I went to his seminar and found him to be a kind and knowlegable doctor.  His thouroughness and patience was comforting to me, especially since I have never been in the hospital let alone ever had surgery.  I had a few questions about getting pregnant after the surgery because I have not been able to get pregnant to this point and he patiently and reassuringly explained what will take place and that everything will be fine.

I went for my first visit in August and that was my first step to a better life.  My surgery date is set for December 26.  MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ME!!!!   I am excited and anxious...
