My surgery has been scheduled for January 7, 2004. Although this is exciting for me, I feel a little disappointed that I will have to wait another four (4) months to have surgery. It seemed like such an urgency to get approved only to have to wait again. I am trying to be thankful and patient, but it very difficult. Four months is a long way away. So for those of you in the approval process good luck and be patient. It may be a while before your surgery is actually scheduled. Tracy

Tracy how exciting. I am still fighting with Cigna but I believe this is going to be my week. I had a good phone call last week with my employer's HR dept and they want to intervene for me! Blessings to you as you become a BIG LOSER!

I have FINALLY been approved. On September 11, 2003 (how ironic 911?) I received a call from Steve at Virginia Mason and he had just gotten off the phone with Cigna, and I have been approved! Now I am just waiting for the surgeons office to call and schedule a date! I am hoping for November sometime. I am soooo excited and relieved.

~*~I SAID A PRAYER FOR YOU TODAY~*~ I said a prayer for you today And know God must have heard- I felt the answer in my heart Although He spoke no word I didn't ask for wealth or fame, I knew you wouldn't mind, I asked Him to send treasures Of a far more lasting kind, I asked that He'd be near you At the start of each new day, To grant you health and blessings And friends to share your way. I asked for happiness for you In all things great and small, But it was for His loving care I prayed the most of all ~*~Hugs~*~

On July 9, 2003 I received my first "denial" from my insurance company. In response to it I wrote an appeal letter and had a consult with a psychologist and a nutritionist. This information plus all my other required information was sent. On August 4, 2003, I received another "denial" stating that my documentation did not show medical necessity and they basically asked me for EXACTLY what I had previously sent them. On August 11th, I wrote an additional letter and resent all of my information. 2 weeks later when Steve from Virginia Mason called to check on the status of the appeal they said that they had never received any information on me. So on August 21st it was mailed to them and on August 27th it was confirmed that they had received it. It will now take 10-15 MORE days to process. This, so far, has been a real bummer. I am determined to get this approved!
