SACRIFICE TODAY, REWARDS TOMMOROW
Feb 15, 2007
My surgery went well. This new diet I am adjusting to is very difficullt for me. This is what drug withdrawal must feel like. I know I am doing the right thing, but I can't wait until this clear liquid phase is over. Temptation definately is the Devil's advocate. Anyway, I am 6 days post-op and when i weighed in at 3 days out I was already down 6 lbs. WHOOPIE!
RNY VS LAPBAND
Jan 25, 2007
When I first started my WLS journey it was all about the gastric bypass. I have a few freinds that have had great success with it, whereas I have a couple of family members whom have the LAPBAND and have not been as succesful. SO I decided to go with the RNY, didn't care the risks. My ins. co gave me such a hard time approving this surgery, I went back and forth with them for a year! In that time, a good freind of mine wanted to go for the BAND, I tried to discourage her, but she insisted that the RNY was to risky for her personally, being a mom of 2 small children. Myself being a mom of 2 small boys, I began to ponder her concerns. I agreed to attend a LAPBAND seminar with her and discovered an awesome fact. The Dr. put it this way: "Do you want to fly or drive to your destination?" "In the end you end up at the same place". In truth the risks are less with a LAPBAND, and although the results are not as significant, it is what you make of it. I tell myself WLS is not a cure it's a TOOL, a fantastic tool that will work if used correctly. I hope to have more babies in the near future and with the BAND that can be achieved sooner rather than later. So in the end I have decided to drive and enjoy the scenery. I think my ins co. was trying to tell me something because I was approved for this surgery quickly.
INSURANCE
Jan 19, 2007
After two denials with one surgeon. I FINALLY got an OK from my insurance company when I went to a new surgeon. Third time's the charm! I look at it as a sign from GOD that he guided me into the right hands.
