I have struggled with my weight since middle school - I was a relatively active and "average" weight child but between the summer of elementary and middle school I gained 50 pounds. By the time I graduated high school I was 200 lbs (I am 5'4"). I gained the freshman 15 in college plus some....I tried various diets throughout my life. The most successful was when I lost 90lbs doing Atkins. I became pregnant with my first child and gained 50 pounds during pregnancy and another 30 the year after. I tried weight watchers and lost 60 pounds - then got pregnant with my second child. I managed to only gain 30 pounds during that pregnancy but in the 6 years since I have gained and lost and gained more.
Last summer I was diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea and over this past year I can feel just how much my weight is impacting my body. I turned 36 this summer but I feel much older - my back hurts most of the time, I can't clean my house without wearing myself out and most importantly I can't play with my very active boys. I don't want them growing up with memories that mom was always too tired to play with them.
I am excited about this next step in life - I know it won't be easy but I am focused and determined! Today is a new day!
