Congratulations on your surgery! I have some Zen Wisdom for you - Nothing exists but momentarily...One thing flows into another...observe things as they are, let everything go as it goes. This is to put everything under control in its widest sense. --- May God keep you close to his side as you travel your new journey. You will have ups and downs. You can always turn to us, your AMOS family, we will give support, comfort and encouragement. You will find this will be the best thing you could ever have done for yourself as well as your family. I know that was true for me. Don’t forget to update your profile at least monthly. We all like to see how we are doing!!! Make sure you take pictures. It’s great to see the new you emerge!!! Not to mention the look on YOUR face when you look at those pictures and compare them in a few months! It’ll be a BIG WOW!!! Please remember too, that this is a *tool* to use. Make sure you use it wisely. Choose the right foods and measurements wisely! Feel free to look at my profile and see my ups and downs and know I’d not change a thing with anything I’ve experienced. Everything was worth it! Good luck and God Bless!!! RNY 10/31/03 257/140 I’M AT GOAL!!! Kelly, I'm 6 days post-op and would be happy to tell you why I made that decision. My surgeon made it very clear that I was a great candidate for either surgery physically. However, after much discussion (and my own research on the lap band) my surgeon also pointed out that with the amount of weight that I have to lose, the RNY was a more dependable tool. The lap-band is very patient-dependant...I had little success with being able to diet. RNY is a new way of life and I don't have to think about it too much in terms of quantity. So those are the reasons, I hope that helps. Feel free to email me at [email protected] anytime if you'd like to talk more. Maria I wanted to start over

BMI - 42 Dec 4. Attended informational seminar for Scottsdale Bariatric Surgery Dec. 8- Began 9 week educational course entitled "Wellness/Balance" with hospital psychologist. We discussed mantra's, hunger/fullness rating scale, head vs. body hunger. Meets every Thursday. Dec. 9 - Turned in paperwork regarding health history to SBC Dec. 23 - Had initial appt at SBC with dietician, doctor, and psychologist. Was given instructions to up exercize and water consumption. Goal is to try to lose 25 lbs before surgery date. Have to return Pap results and have one other blood test done through my PCP. Keep wanting to do lap band, because of my great dislike for nausea... but feel somehow the bypass is the long term solution. Your comments on why you chose what you chose would help. thanks
