Almost 1 year out

Mar 21, 2010

Well, it's March 21, 2010 356 days (or just 9 days shy of 1 year) and I'm down 123 pounds and doing OK.  I had a little set back a couple of weeks ago - I had a 8 mill-meter kidney stone, if you can't figure out how big that is, think of your index finger nail - that's how big it was!  They had to push it back into the kidney to do lithotripsy on it but it worked and it has passed without much additional pain.

I can't really believe it has been almost a year at times and then other times it seems like a long time ago.  I'm down to a size 14/16 in most clothes which I never thought I would see again.  I'm still hoping to be down to a size 12 before my 30 year high school reunion on July 25 of this year.  I am beginning to have to really up the exercise to keep the weight coming off, but I have also been able to eat more recently so I'm trying to get back to just eating about 3 to 4 ounces at a meal.

I am beginning to have some skin issues and I am hoping that I can reduce some of it by exercise but I know that I will have to have some surgery to correct it all and I'm not sure I want to go that route.  Because it would be self-pay I worry if something went wrong I could lose everything trying to pay for the expenses.  So I may end up with lots of skin but at least I will be healthier!

I no longer have to take any prescription medication for blood pressure, diabetes, or fluid problems.  My vitamins are still a little out of whack but I have starting figuring out how to manage them better as well.

I wish everyone who decides to go this route the best of luck and my prayers for your safety and success are with each of you!
