Hi, I'm a 43 year old mother of 4 who has been over weight all my life. I was always bigger than my friends in school and then when I got married and started having kids I put about 30-50lbs on with each child and had 4 children! Every time I tried to diet I'd lose about 20-25 lbs and then enter the eternal platau and never lose any more. I'd always re-gain the weight too. I'm a nurse and I worked for an Insurance company way back when and learned about obesity surgery and tried to get approved but they denied me as "Not a Benefit". Since then I've been scared to try again, afraid I'd get turned down. Then I found a Surgeon that is IN-Network with my current plan and saw coworkers getting approved. Also, one of my daughters, Mandi, also had gotten very over weight and wanted to do surgery, so, that gave me a good reason to try again! This time I was approved. My daughter and I have done everything together and both had laparscopic gastric bypass on 7/25/08. We have been losing ever since. I'm glad she encouraged me and am looking forward to this new chapter of my Life.
