My story began when I was 6 yrs old, I started eating and I didn't stop. My weight has been an issue all my life. I have lost weight but when I gained it back it come double. When I got married in 1985 I was at about 150 lbs, which wasn't bad, but when I had my girls, the weight just didn't go away.
Has time went on the weight came and went and then in 1996, I was told that I had diabetes this just not what I needed or wanted. At first I was taking pills for the diabetes, the doctor changed it about every 2 to 3 years. Until about a year ago my diabetes was out of control, so I had to go to a diabetes doctor in Oct 07, he put me on 2 different pills and that didn't work.
In May 08, I was put on an insulin pump, this is something that I know I didn't want.
Back in July 07, I started researching WLS, I went to the meetings that I needed to for the WLS. I went to Dr. Allen for the first time in Oct 07, and from then on, I started having the needed test for my WLS. I biggest issue was getting all the paperwork for the insurance company.
Every time paperwork was sent in, the insurance company would ask for something else. I hated the waiting, I need if I could get the Lap-Band, I was hoping that I could get my diabetes under control.
Well I had my WLS on June 30, 2008 and my insulin has been drop from 1.65 units per hour to .5 units, I haven't see blood sugars levels this great the whole time I have had diabetes.
To Date: I have lost 27 lbs and 25 inches.
I just can't wait until I am at my goal....
