I am a 36 year old female who has been overweight my whole life. I can remember being teased as an overweight child, teenager and adult. I have been married to my husband Jeff for 12 years and we have 3 amazing daughters: Danielle age 11, Samantha age 7 and Brooke age 2. I began researching weightloss surgery over a year ago and it took a scary event in the ER with heart palpitations and arrythmias to make me get serious about surgery. Since that day getting this surgery done became a huge priority. After going through all of the tests that my insurance company wanted and jumping through hoops (like going to a doctor out of state so the insurance company would pay for the surgery) the insurance company denied me on December 11th 2006. I personally think it was because the insurance company found out that my company was changing insurance companies and that starting in January I would no longer have their company. I felt devastated, but there was a silver lining to such a dark cloud. My mom and dad (who are divorced) got together and decided that I needed this surgery and that they would pay for it out of their own pockets. I know amazing aren't they. So we got to work right a way found a surgeon close to home and made appointments. Since I had alot of the pre-surgery testing done, the only thing I lacked was a sleep study which I had done the first week in January. Met with the doctor again and got a date January 23, 2007. So in the matter of 6 weeks I went from total despair to great joy.  I had surgery on 01-23-07 and everything went well, no complications to date. I am tremendously thankful to my parents, my surgeon and my family for supporting me and giving me a new lease on life. I did this not only for myself, but so that I can be here and be the mom to my girls that I have always wanted to be and until have been unable to be.
