9 Months Post Op...

Nov 06, 2007

Well....here I am 9 months out and loving my new body!  I am currently at 185 which is down 127 pounds from my high of 312!  I have lost a whole other person.  I still don't think my mind has caught up to the new weight and I need to work on realizing how much weight I have actually lost.  When I look in a mirror I still see a fat lady....

I still have had no surgery-related problems what-so-ever....I did have one episode of severe pain just below my breast bone in the center that lasted for 12 hours.  I rushed in to my surgeon and he said we will watch it and see if it happens again and then possible just scope to see whats going on.  Well, in hind sight I believe it was a viral stomach ache because two co-workers got the same thing.  Whew!  I din't want to start having problems now.

I will get some new pictures posted soon.  I am SOOOOO HAPPY I HAD THIS SURGERY!!!!!!!

8 Months Post-Op!

Oct 05, 2007

Well, this month has been very sloooowwww as far as any weight loss.  I have, however, been wearing all 14's and even two pairs of 12's fit!  I feel great physically.

I have noticed that a little bit of "hunger" is coming back and I can eat more at one time now.  I think this is ok and normal, but I have a fear about gaining the wieght back.  I imagine all of us on this journey feel the same way.

Also, when I have looked at recent pictures of me I feel like I still look "fat".  I keep wondering when I will get to the point when someone will look at me and not label me as "fat".  Maybe this is just my warped thinking, and I need to deal with it.  I am hoping to have a GOOD October and lighten up the scale!!

I need to dwell on the GOOD!  I HAVE LOST 118 BIG POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

7 Months Post-Op..

Sep 08, 2007

Today I am at 199!!!!!  I have not weighed this in 20 years!  (Yes, way back when I was 22 years old)  WOOOHHHOOOOOOO!!!  I am down a total of 113 pounds!  I am wearing a size 14 jeans, and am going to need 12's SOON!  I have bben trying not to dwell on my weight or FOOD and am working on just living my life.  LIFE IS GOOD!!

6 Months Post Op !!!!!

Aug 09, 2007

Well, I went in to see Dr. Glass for my 6 month post-op check-up today.  Everything went just fine.  All of my labs came back really good and I have good nutrition.  According to my scale I have lost 102 pounds in the 6 months since surgery, but according to Doc's scale I have lost ONLY 99 - sooo close to 100!!  I have set my goal to weigh 175 pounds - just to be very realistic, and Dr. Glass said he would like to see me weigh even less than that which makes sense since I am only 5 ' 4" tall.  BUT, for me to weigh 150 pounds would be a fantasy come true!  So anyway, my next goal is to lose 40 more pounds and weigh 175, and then MAYBE 25 pounds more after that.....I CAN DO IT!!  I have not weighed 210 (my current weight) for at least 20 years, and the last time I weighed 150 I was in 7th grade!!!

So, let's see....at this point I am eating a protien shake in the morning during the week and eggs or meat on the weekends.  For lunch I tend to have 3/4 can of tuna on whole wheat crackers or a chicken strip, and for dinner I have 1/2 cup of whatever the family is eating.  Sometimes I have an 80-calorie yogurt with all bran mixed in just to keep me "regular".  I had been eating sunflower seeds in the shell mid morning, but Dr. Glass informed me today that they were a bad idea because they don't fill you up at all, and they really don't have enough protein to make all the fat calories worth it.  So I am going to try to stop that habit.

My arthritis in my knees is totally GONE.  I FEEL GREAT!!!!!  I STILL HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SURGERY!

5 Months Post Op

Jul 02, 2007

Well, all is still well - 5 months post-op - no complications to speak of...I have been very lucky.  I am now down a total of 93 pounds.  I am hoping to be down 100 by 6 months.  I am still lacking in the exercize department although just being healthy and having lost the weight I am much more active in my everyday life!  Last night out of the blue, my 4 year old told me that I am not fat anymore.  Bless his heart!  I am eating more - about 1/2 cup at a meal.  I am trying really hard to concentrate on lean meat, but I have never been a big meat eater so it is a sometimes a struggle.  I have been losing some hair, but I am fortunate to have very thick hair to start with so I am actually liking the thining a little.  I just don't want it to get TOO thin.

4 months Post-Op!

Jun 06, 2007

Well, everything is going great.  I feel terrific!  I am down a total of 80 pounds.  I am eating more real meats and most everything is going down good.  I need to get some new pictures posted so I can show off a little!

3 Months Post Op!

May 06, 2007

Well, 3 months and down a total of 70 pounds!!!  I have gone from wearing a 24-26, 3x to a 18-20, xl-1x!!!!!  I went shopping for clothes for the first time yesterday and it was wonderful!!  I am having fun throwing out my BIG clothes!  My closet is getting bare, but I don't want to buy too much yet...

I have noticed that skin is starting to hang a bit and I was really really hoping not to have any surgery for that.  I am starting to wonder now though.

Doctor said I need to work on eating more real meats.  I tend to do the easy softer stuff (peanut butter, cheese, tuna, and protein drinks).  So.,..I have been trying to eat more pork chops, beef roast, steak, and chicken.  I have noticed that these types of foods definitely keep me more full for a looonggg time.

BUT, so far so good.  I feel great.  No problems what-so-ever!  I continue to be so happy to have made this decision to have the surgery.

7 Weeks Post-Op

Mar 23, 2007

3-23-07  Wow, 7 weeks already!  I am feeling great and so glad I had this surgery!  I have soooo much energy and absolutely no complications.  I have not yet throw-up or had dumping.  I am on a full diet now, but just need to introduce things slowly.

I am eating 3  fourth-cup to half-cup (high protein) meals a day totalling about 300 calories, and two high protein shakes totaling 46 grams of protein and 200 calories.  So, I am getting at least 50 grams of protein, 500 calories, and around 60 ounces of water each day.  And of course my calcium and vitamin supplements.

Summer clothes here I come!!

5 Weeks Post-Op

Mar 09, 2007

3-9-07  Well, 5 weeks post op and doing great.  I have eaten refried beans, chicken nuggets, cottage cheese, and cheddar cheese so far.  Very small amounts for each meal (1 Nugget or 1 tablespoon of beans, etc.).

I have not begun any exercize program yet even though the Doc said no restrictions.  That is my goal for the week....exercize somehow!!  I just wish the weather would get nice so we can do outside stuff.  We have a lot of snow that needs to melt yet.

I have set my "realistic" goal at 175 which I haven't weighed since highschool (23 years ago).  That means I have 99 more pounds to go!!  I CAN do it!
