Being sick after wls

Apr 02, 2009

I wanted to send a blog out to the few people about my wls surgery. I'm about six weeks away from my anniversary (wow, can't believe it)! I had my gallbladder removed last Friday. This is one of the downsides to the surgery. Today I can eat anything and the only restriction is the amount. I can't emotionally eat like I could a year ago. You get full and you don't want to go and undo all the work you've done in the past year. I was paralyzed for a few months after surgery due to malnutrition neuropathy (another downfall from WLS). I have been pretty sick for most of the year after my surgery. Yes, I have lost 100 pds and doing so with only being to the gym once! (not for lack of wanting but more of being sick). I plan to start working out here shortly when I heal up from my most recent surgery. I'm at a standstill with my weight and I'm going to get back on the band wagon. But I have to say emotionally I'm still depressed. Not about the same things just an overall emotional state. I've been to the doctors more in this last year than I ever been in my life. My father asked me the other day if given the chance again, would I have WLS surgery? It has been yes and no each time I've been asked... At this point I'm not sure I feel. The past is the past, correct? Would I tell another individual to have the surgery? ABSOULTELY NOT! I may be skinnier and I know longer have diabetes but I don't feel different. Same old BonBon just with poorer health. I hope things improve. I take my vitamins everyday and my labs are great now. i did lose a lot of hair but its coming back around now as well.
