My story began last year when I got a random text from Weight Loss Surgical Centers. It said 'enter your height and weight to determine your BMI to determine if you are a candidate for lapband.' I knew I had been gaining weight for years since I had had my son, but never to the point where I thought it had gotten out of control. This was a day of total eye opening. I entered my height and weight and saw that I in fact was a candidate for lapband. I scheduled a consultation with WLSC within the next week. Once I found out what my insurance requirements were I dived in. I started my 6 month supervised MD weight loss appointments starting in October. Those 6 months of appointments were really informative, however it seemed like whatever I put in my mouth good or bad I would still stay consistently at the same weight give or take a few pounds. As anyone can image I was so discouraged. Towards the end of my 6 months worth of appointments I scheduled my eval with the dietician and psychologist. In the meantime, my PCP that had been monitoring my weight loss had found a surgeon that she felt would be the right fit for me, she was not as happy with the surgeons at WLSC follow up program. So I made a consultation with Dr. K at MISH. She was the one that introduced the sleeve to me. I am so happy that she did, after attending the informational seminar, my consultation, and talking to my PCP I decided the sleeve was for me! My insurance information was approved in June 3rd and I have my sleeve surgery scheduled for July 12th! I am so excited to start this new journey in my life!
