I had my VSG sugery, performed in Mexico by Dr. Guillermo Alvarez on June 29, 2007. I am 5/2" and was 234.4 pounds the day of sugery. Today, 15 days later, I'm at 217 pounds. The surgery couldn't have gone better and I feel like a million bucks!! Dr. Alvarez and his team are all WONDERFUL and having surgery in Mexico was no problem at all. Clean facility...yes, it's Mexico, but it was fine. The hospital staff will wait on you hand and foot and are all very capable. Dr. Alvarez will check in on you frequently to make sure you have EVERYTHING you need. He is the MOST experienced surgeon at this in the entire world with well over 300 of these surgeries under his belt...there isn't a doctor on the planet that loves the OR more than this guy. Gotta love a surgeon who adores his job!! Go for it, it's a wonderful journey and I'm so happy I did it. My only regret is that I didn't do to this 5 years ago!!
