It has been a little over a month since my surgery.  I feel great.  I had my first wow moment on Monday, 08/25/08.  I'm a special education teacher at a middle school and on the first day back, I was able to fit in my student's desks!!!!!  I was soooo happy because prior, I would have to squeeze into the desks and it was always very uncomfortable.  In addition, I have more energy, my joints don't hurt as much anymore (still do, but not as much) and my clothes fit much nicer.  I also notice that I am building more confidence with myself and I feel prettier.

I went to for a follow-up with Dr. Davis and I have lost 12 pounds since my surgery!  I am very happy.  When I look at myself in the mirror, I don't see not much of a difference but I am noticing little things such as my new sandals slip on easily and my joint pains don't hurt anymore.  My joint pains prior to surgery were giving me imense grief!  At this point, I feel elated, hopeful, and happy.

I'm new at this so please forgive me for not following up as quickly.  I had my surgery on 07/16/08.  The surgery went well (thank God) and I am still in a little pain.  The pain that I am experiencing are not the scars but the inability to sleep well.  I can't sleep on my right or left side without my scars hurting me and I my back hurts a lot because I of the weight of my chest.  I sleep sitting down in the corner of my sectional couch.  It hurts to breathe a little which probably means my lungs are hurting from sleeping on my back.  I am very hungry and although I know that I am on a liquid diet and soon to be on a pureed diet, I cannot help but dream of eating nachos!  I feel very guilty and I follow my diet consistently but I hope that the urge to eat those fatty foods go away.  I feel like a junkie going through the withdrawal process.
