Thanks Mary for having me in your prayers and thoughts. I have some good news. I think I was approved. Everyone keeps telling me I was approved but I guess I won't believe it until I get the surgery. I got the fallowing letter today in the mail. ************************************************** Dr. Ms. C; This letter is in response to your request for an appeal of denial of Bariatric Surgery. A physician who specializes in general surgery and who had no involvement in the original denial reviewed your request and the available clinical information, based on the review this review of the original denial has been reversed. Decision: Certify proposed bariatric surgery. Reason: Approval is based upon recommendation by an external peer reviewer, after consideration on the member’s individual clinical circumstances. The member has met all BCBSIL medical policy criteria for proposed bariatric surgery. This letter is not a guarantee of benefits as eligibility requirements, terms, conditions and exclusions of the member’s health plan, such as pre-existing condition provisions may apply.

It's Mary here! I really appreciate hearing from you folks. It was nice seeing an e-mail from Princess Splenda. Love the name. My surgery date of Dec. 16th is holding firm. This is a good thing. Dr. Koren's office has applied for insurance approval and I'm told that Capital Blue Cross will accept readily.
