9/8/05 - Weight had never been a problem for me until I had my first child. After 3 children I saw my weight skyrocket from 115 to over 250 and it just slowly keeps climbing. No diet or exercise program has ever worked for me. The most I have ever been able to lose is 33 pounds and that took 6 months. While the weight gain in and of itself is not pleasant, it is my health that has started me one my journey into WLS. I hate not having the energy to play with my children. I can't get to sleep at night and I am exhausted all day. My daughter is starting to figure skate and I can't even go out on the ice with her because my ankle will give out. I am constantly irritable from lack of sleep and unfortunately I tend to take out on the ones I love the most. I am tired of always being sick and tired. I want to be healthy, energetic and full of life again.

I started thinking about WLS about a year and a half ago but did not seriously start looking into it until this spring. The only surgeries that I knew of were the lap band and the gastric bypass. I came across the DS by looking up doctors in my area who did the band and gastric bypass and came across one practically down the street from me who offered the DS. The more I looked into it the more it looked like the better of the three for me. After the seminar I knew it was the surgery for me.

I am now just waiting on insurance approval. I got an email today that everything has been sent off for approval. I am excited, nervous and very impatient, lol. I will update once I hear something.
