Benefits, benefits, benefits.....

Apr 10, 2013

So it's been quite a while since I last blogged but not because of negative reasons. My weight loss has been tremendous and I'm overjoyed with my decision! I'm around 85lbs. lost and have gone from a size 24 to an 18. My Easter dress was actually a 16! I thought I was going to pass out! lol! I'm eating a lot of protein and haven't had many issues with eating any foods except for pasta and breads. I've been skimping on my workouts but that ended today. I started working for a new client and realized that I needed to make time for my workouts. They are just as important as my protein intake. I've also started to drink more protein shakes as of lately due to increased hunger around the time of my period and times of craving sweets. That helps a lot!!

I want to let something out that I deal with on a daily basis. I'm a recovering heroin addict and have been clean for 7 years. I'm currently on methadone and have been trying to come off for a couple of years. This surgery has put that possibility in reach. Since having the bypass, I've come down 55mg of my daily dose. I'm not sure how fast I'll be able to come off but the idea that it's going to happen is so rewarding. I've been so surprised how much easier it has been decreasing my dose with the weight I've lost. I never expected it to be so much.

I feel like I've stretched out my stomach but I don't feel that is much of an issue as long as I stay exercising and eating healthy. I mean it would eventually anyway right? But it's a concern and I just want to stay on my road to losing so I'm not giving in and staying strong with my goal in sight! 85 down, 45 to go!!
