I am a research scientist, with focus on the health sciences. At 59, I have finally acknowledged that I am Morbidly Obese. I am very strong, and seem healthy and fairly fit. However, the health problems and lab tests don't lie -- I have at least the beginnings of most of the problems associated with MO. I have had the classic pattern of up and down weight, always trending higher, since my 20's.

After much study, I have decided on BPD/DS, even though I will have to self-pay for DS (as opposed to RNY which would be covered by my insurance).

Update 2019...

I am stable 11 years post surgery, now retired and working on my bucket list at 70. This summer is the Galapagos and Machu Picchu. No doubt that everything associated with this journey was well worth it.
