Filter in and ready for my BIG DAY!!!

Aug 20, 2007

I had my filter put in today ...was a breeze.  Only problem I had was nausea after it was put in.  The nurse quickly put something in th IV to stop it.  I was happy to see that I lost 8 lbs more on the clear liquid diet.  Thats a total of 36 lbs pre-op.  That made my day.

My last post until next week or till I feel up to using the computer (which by the way is my addiction also so it won't be long...lol)

Day 3 Liquid Diet

Aug 19, 2007

Empty is the only word I can use to describe how I feel.  My stomach has stopped growling at me.  Today I will just take it easy...take a LONG hot bath and enjoy my last day before my day at the hosp. tomorrow for my filter.  I feel like I lost 10 lbs in the past 2 days...hopefully I did.

I will post tomorrow night how that procedure goes.  From what I've heard it's not too bad.

I guess its off to POGO games from here.

Things are great so far...

Aug 18, 2007

I've been on this liquid diet all day yesterday and today.  I thought it would be much harder.  I'm very pumped up for my big day.  Today I've drank about 4 bottled water and one Unjury Chicken broth.  I rode my exercise bike 7 miles today but I will do more later.  I'm going to work myself to 20 miles per day after the surgery but not all in one sitting.  Right now I ride 1-2 miles and stop to rest a minute.  I love the bike...I bought it on Overstock.com.  It has all the bells and whistles I need.  I will buy a treadmill next.

Besides doing that I worked on sweepstaking, which is my #1 hobby.  I did that for at least 3 hours.  My husband has been so supportive in giving me a much needed break from the kids.  He knows how tough this is.  Today he took them to dance lessons.  Ashley (7) and Thomas (9) are in private lessons for tap, jazz and ballet.  Madison (6)and Kayden (4)are in their own private lessons taking the same dances.  Our oldest son Jerry does not have an interest in dance.  So Jerry worked on sweeps with me at home.  He colors envelopes for me.  The kids decorating my envelopes help a lot.  The judges must like the kid stuff...lol.  I need to get winning.  I've been a sweeper for about 5 years now.  I learned this hobby from my Mom and sister in Michigan.  They both do it regularly also.  My sister won 2 cars last year if you can believe that.  One was a Ford Mustang from Coke and the other was a Dodge Charger from Miller Lite Beer.  LUCKY GIRL!!!!!  I have not won a car yet but I keep trying.  I have won so many prizes though.  I just got an IPOD shipped to me that I won from Oscar Mayer sweepstakes.  I love it.  My husband downloaded some good music to it for me to have at the hosp this week.  Thats the second IPOD I won.  I won the other last summer.

Heres a good instant win game to play.  Me and my husband both won on our first try.  http://iw.rtm.com/rysiw/   you will need to enter the following UPC code (after you register)  603084021321, lots of prizes.  Give it a shot.  Its from Garnier shampoos.  Let me know if you win a prize.

Other than all of that I will spend the rest of this day in our office.  On the computer and reading.  And of course....drinking lots of water lol.

Thanks to all my new friends here...its a place to go and get some feelings out.  I hope to get to know some of you better in the future.  More later.  Chow!!!  (bad choice of endings eh?)

Starting early

Aug 17, 2007

I decided to start my liquid diet today.  I'm ready for this.  I will just stay out of the kitchen all weekend.  So far so good.  I'm only drinking water so far.  I will probably have some crystal light and sugar free popsicles later.  Hopefully I'll lose a few more pounds prior to surgery on Tues.

Pre-Op Done Today

Aug 15, 2007

Well....pre-op is done.  5 more days to wait now.  I start my liquid diet on Saturday.  I called and set up auto shipments of Unjury for my pretein suppliments.  If you auto ship it saves you 15% and free shipping when you order 6 containers.  I thought that would be best for me to start.  It cost more than $80 for a one month supply.  But I have to have it.  I went and bought a huge supply of vitamins/calcium and B12 today also.  I should be in good shape for a while.

I signed so many consent forms today and they really stress the risks involved on just about everything you sign.  Kinda makes me nervous.  I'll be happy to be back here and updating my losses though.  I'm so ready for this change.

My doctor appt.

Aug 14, 2007

My appt. yesterday was so long.  First I talked with Cleo, the P.A. and she went over what to expect.  Then Dr Argotte covered the in and outs with me.  He talked about the risks again which I understand he has to let me know....not trying to scare me away...lol.  After that I went to the bariatric nurse Melissa.  She spent a long time with me covering everything from A-Z.  She gave me so much info that I almost feel overwhelmed now.  But she also gave a binder that includes all that she talked about and some.  She also gave me a few prescriptions to have filled prior to my big day.  I did that today.

Pre-op tomorrow at the hosp and then back to doctor office for me and hubby to sign some consent forms.  I start my liquid diet Saturday, dreading that.

I will try to keep this updated.  Can't wait to get on the road to SKINNY and HEALTHY!!!

My female cocker is in heat right now.  It's driving us crazy.  Our male who mated to her last Nov. is much smaller than her.  So we had to take them to the vet for A.I.  He tries and tries but just can't connect to her...lol.  Poor thing.  Anyway.......Chloe and Hunter areback at the vet today for A.I. again and Chloe should have some beautiful pups in mid Oct.  Just in time to find new homes for Christmas this year.  And while my Chloe is gtting fat for 2 months..I will be getting smaller.  I can't wait to have more puppies...they're so sweet.  She had 2 girls and 2 boys last time.  The demand was unreal.  The puppies were sold in 2 days.  I will post pics when she has them.

Have a great day and good luck to all of you.

My final week of waiting...

Aug 12, 2007

I have my final doctor appt. tomorrow with Dr. Argotte.  My weight will probably be the same.  (because I have been a bad girl!!!)  One thing I will say is I have had nothing to drink besides water for months.  That has helped a whole lot.  On Thursday I go in for pre-op at the hosp.  I start my liquid diet on Friday.  Monday 8-20-07 I go in for my filter (out-patient).  And my big day is Tuesday.  I'm excited but scared.  Can you believe I have not told my parents.  They live in Michigan.  My Mom would have a fit if she heard of me doing this.  I have shared this with my sisters and one niece from my family because they are much more agreeable to things like this. I just know my Mom would try to talk me out of it.  I feel so guilty not telling her but I know it's better for me right now.  I have the support of my wonderful husband and that will help so much.  I just have to figure out how to avoid phone calls from her while I'm in the hospital.  (we call eachother regularly) I'll call the day before and the day I get home...lol.  She'll never know.  Pretty bad I'm 45 and still having to dodge my Mother...lol.  She just loves me a lot.  She does not have a weight problem and would never relate to what I go through....well maybe she would....but this is ultimately my decision.  I just don't want negative feedback or someone giving me reasons to doubt my decison at this point.  My oldest sister is very petite.....5'1" 115 lbs and she agrees that I should do this.  Thats all  the family approval I needed.  She is 48 and I am 45.

Anyway....I have been trying to upload a photo on my profile and kept getting the message that the file is  too large.  I had to crop this picture to this "silly fat face" photo....lol.  I'm not the technology wiz here....or my hubby who was trying to help me.  But we finally got one to stick.

My kids are worried about the surgery.  Mostly because they'll miss me.  My husbands sister is coming to stay with the children while I'm in the hosp...(poor woman....lol)  I appreciate that very much because it's extremely difficult to find a babysitter for my 5 and this is asking a lot.  But my husband will be here in the evenings to help with supper and homework.  The children started school here Aug.6th.  When I grew up that was the middle of summer vacation from school.  They do things so different here in Kentucky,  from Michigan where I was raised.

BIKINI DAYS AHEAD....stay tuned.......lol

More soon...as I get closer to 8-21-07.

Counting down the days

Jul 31, 2007

I'm supposed to be on the liver shrinking diet.  I cheated a few times.  The main reason is I've been on it since April.  They put you on it one month prior to surgery.  1200 cal.  2000 sodium, 30 fat, 167 carbs, 60 protein.  Tough diet.  I did really good for the first month.  I lost 28 lbs.  A lot of water I'm sure.  That really made a difference in how I felt.  The doctors office was supposed to have submitted my paperwork to insurance for approval at that time.  After a month and no response I called my BCBS insurance and they said they didn't receive it.  I asked the doctors office to resubmit it.  After several weeks and still no approval letter I called BCBS again.  They again said they didn't get it.  They gave a fax number and said to have the doctor office send it there.  I was approved in one week.  So during all of the time waiting...I've had a vacation and a birthday...both a huge way to cheat for me.  I don't think I gained any of my 28 lbs back but I feel guilty that I cheated and have not lost more.  So I'm trying to be very strict until I see the surgeon 1 week pre-op. I bought a work out bike and put in in my sunroom.  I ride 3-5 miles 2-3 times per week.  I need to increase that and do it daily.  This Fall when it's cool I would love to get outside and start a daily walking routine.  I hope I get motivated and show good results after going through all of this.  I've read a few cases where the person did not get the results they expected and were really depressed as a result.  I think I have the determination to succeed.  Wish me luck!!!  I need some online friends to talk to.  Here's my email if anyone wants to chat.  [email protected]
