"Today was my first visit with Dr. Steinbaum. He walked into the room shook my hand and got right to business. He walked me through everything about the surgery.. the risks, the benefits, the different types and so on (of course I knew it all already thanks to this site~ man did I feel smart! For the first time ever, I knew exactly what the doctor was talking about.) Anyways, he was very to the point and I respected that. He is the only surgeon in the entire Orlando area that is doing this surgery, and he is very particular in what patients he chooses to accept for the surgery. I have to start my series of testing now (ekg, psych eval, nutritionist, etc..) The surgeons office is scheduling everything but the psych eval for me and will let me know tomorrow when my appt dates are. The office manager told me that Dr. Steinbaum will not do "these surgeries" anymore as it is not worth his time because he is not paid enough by the insurance company. She said that if I do get an appeal approved that he would do it since I've gone this far, but he will not do anymore after this.. I know it stinks, because he is a great doctor!"
