I was larger than my sister's and my mother they weighed about 98 to 115 pounds.Me, I weighed 130 to 140.Right now I would love to be that size again,but in those days I felt fat because of thier weight.I tried diets and excercise and it helped keep me in that range.I married at 18 to my childhood sweetheart and didnt excercise due to having my children and taking care of thier needs before my own.I didn't gain the weight during pregnancy like most do. (9lbs with daughter and only 12 with my son)When I married I was a size 7 and after about a year I was a size 10 then a size 14 and before I knew it I was a size 22 and weighing 235lbs.I have tried all diets and exercise,over the counter meds and prescribed ones at that.I have a good atitude about my size and I have been comfortable with it or should I say have been used to it until I devoloped Diabeties 2.Runs in both sides of my family as does heart desease.I have had to watch my family slowly die from thier weight and I don't want my children to go through that with me.I looked into WLS after my divorce.Timing was off due to relaocating to Houston and not having good Insurance or lack of there of.I went to Dr. Scarborough in 02 and Dr.Fass in 06 now Dr.Carcamo in 07
03/20/2007 I met with Dr. Carcamo today we discussed all my ailments in great detail.I have never really spent that much time with a phycision.EVER!He asked me how I felt.I brought my sister with me she was hesitant about the procedure and after the consoltation she was very impressed.After visiting with him he order the blood work,EKG to evaluate my heat,and a chalking drink esophagus test...YUCK!!!!! :( .My sister and I went to lunch and we still had to talk with a lady about the Nutrientist and the Sych evaluation.She gave me a binder with all the instruction about pre-op and post-op procedures.Talked about this website.A shout out to all his patients which, I met a few while I was there.Congradulations on your weight loss.I'm really excited that I have made this switch to Dr.Carcamo! :)I know now he is the right doctor for the job.As a matter of fact I saw him as I was leaving ...He had preformed 3 of the lapband procedures while I was doing my testing.GOOOOO Doctor !!!!
There wasn't a time in my like where I truly felt thin or that I was fit and healthy.I'm 37 fastly approaching 40.I have been divorced since 2002 and I feel that the time has come for me to start taking care of myself.I love life and I want to be around to enjoy it!
04/13/2007 I met with my Nutrienist and Psychologist on Friday.The meetings went well and both agreed that the surgery would be very beneficial for me and both would report that to my Insurance so now the wait is on.(slowly tapping an table)Waiting on my "YESSSSSSSS"
May 2,2007 I called Dr. Carcamo's office I still havent heard anything from the insurance.They still haven't turned it in yet due to not having any medical records for the year 2002-2003.I didn't have any insurance then so I didnt go to the doctor's.I asked them to please turn it in to the insurance.I think my patience running thin after five years of trying to have a WLS surgery.
06/01/2007 Today I was sitting at my desk at work answer my phones (Receptionist and Loan Submissions) when I received a call.The lady on the other end of the call said may I speak with Vicki I responded this is she she gave me her name and said that she was calling me from Empire BCBS and that I was approved for surgery I was so excited that I started to cry ....I felt like I had won the Lotto LOL! After 5 years of researching and not having good insurance I'm getting to be able to sit next to all of you on the losers bench! I can't wait to be just like you!Post Op date June 18th on a Monday and surgery that Wednesday the 20th in San Antonio.I'm going to take vacation the entire week so I can rest drink and walk my way to victory of loosing weight. :)
6/20/2007 Well, I've been banded scooooooch over peoples I need some room on the bench! LOL
7/18/2007 I had my 2nd visit with Dr Carcamo since my sugery and said I had lost another 5 pounds since my first visit with him ...
and that I was ready for a fill.He filled my 4 cc band with 1.5 cc of solution.I'm really surprised that he decided to fill me even though I was still loosing.I can only imagine what kind of weight I'm going to shed now.
8/16/07 I went for my second fill today.Doctor Carcamo put .3cc in my 4cc band.I feel full again after eating....I LOVE IT!He asked if I could eat bread and I said yes...I told him I was a little disappointed that I had only lost 1 pound in a month. (crying)He said all we want to do is keeping loosing slowly and he said that my walking is on target (3 miles) and keep up the good work!
9/24/2007 I made a trip tp the doctor's office today down to 211 pounds.
10/31/2007 I wasn't feeling good today so I went to my personal physician and she said that I have I viral infection gave me some meds and the flu shot to protect me since I am diabetic.The good news is I weight 208 pounds now.Slowy and surely I'm getting there.
