Ah...my first entry.  I have been considering WLS for nearly a year now.  I met with Dr. Vitello in April, 2006.  He scared me quite a bit about the procedure, and I didn't get serious about meeting my insurance requirements until Sept.  I had my sleep study at U. of I. in Chicago in October.  And yesterday I met the required 6 month weight loss program with a dietician and a nutrionist.  Next is my psychological exam scheduled for March 27, and then a meeting with a different surgeon March 29 to determine if I am a candidate for laproscopic surgery.  I was told yesterday that I could potentially qualify for the surgery in April.  I have decided to wait until the end of June when my job ends for the summer.  So....with a little luck and patience, I may be having WLS in late June or early July. 

I wasn't really sure about the surgery until I found this website.  It is wonderful to read the day by day events of other people going through the same process.  I have yet to find or attend a support group of any kind, so this website has become my support group and a great source of knowledge and inspiration.  I hope and pray that I may have the same success that so many others have had with WLS.
