Carlos Carrasquilla

"5/15/01 My first impression of Dr. Carrasquilla is that he is extremely confident in his position as a top laparascopic and RNY surgeon. Which is what I am looking for. Only Dr. Wittgrove and Dr. Champion do more laparascopic WLS procedures in the country and their numbers are comparable. I am a firm believer in 'practice makes perfect' and I feel comfortable in placing myself in this surgeons capable hands. I had a very early consultation time and was pleased with how much time the doctor did spend with my small group of only 4 people... he was thorough and covered all the potential risks for this procedure plus the impressive statistics regarding these risks in his patient pool. When I opened the door to leave the waiting room was absolutely packed. I was happy to see that I wasnt rushed in 'my time' when they were slammed with patients. I am still in the very early stages of my dealings with the doctor and his staff and I will update everyone as I progress. So far I am very confident in my choices. 5/29/01 - Had my physical with Dr. Carrasquilla last week. I am still happy with my choice of surgeons. I believe that he is a great combination of excellent surgical technique and caring bedside manner. 6/23/01 - Had my first post op visit. I absolutely love Dr. Carrasquilla! He is genuinely concerned with each of us and how we are progressing. I think it tickles him to see how great we are doing. Jennifer, his surgical assistant is also incredibly knowledgeable and professional. I have nothing but praise for his entire staff and the support staff at Florida Medical Center. I have never encountered such a great group of nurses and technicians. There are no negatives regarding my hospital experience. "

Rainer Sachse

"Dr. Sachse is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon who at first seemed a bit conservative in his assessment of what surgery he was recommending to me. However, this was only in comparision to other surgeons I interviewed. He didnt load me up on several reconstructive procedures and I appreciated that. I felt very comfortable in discussing my body with him. I have several friends who have also used Dr. Sachse for their procedures and all of us feel that his warmth and caring nature was a plus over and above his impeccable credentials. I had my abdominoplasty at Imperial Point Hospital but did not stay the night following the procedure...Dr. Sachse called my home twice to check on me and to make sure my husband was coping. At 6 days post op my stomach is perfectly flat with an almost invisible scar... I have a new cute vertically oriented belly button. You should choose a plastic surgeon who has been formally trained in plastic surgery... any doctor can decide to start practicing in the field of plastic surgery... the best plastic surgeons are board certified by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, which gives careful consideration and weight to the training of these surgeons."

AdvantEdge Chocolate Fudge Carb Control Shake

"I use a protein shake every day and this is what I use when I dont have a blender. I keep a few in the fridge and grab one when I am in a hurry. I just came back from a trip to Europe and took these with me. Popped them into the mini bar and drank one while getting ready in the morning. I love the lightweight juice box type packaging and the convenience... the chocolate tastes just like YooHoo. Very good tasting. Definitely a good product for those who travel on business or are on the run. "

EAS AdvantEdge French Vanilla Carb Control Shake

"I have a protein shake every day and these are great for traveling and times when I dont have a blender to make an Isopure shake. The vanilla is good but the chocolate tastes exactly like Yoo Hoo. I use the vanilla for a change. I just got home from a trip to Europe and put one of these ready to drink shakes in the minibar every night to drink while I was getting ready in the morning. I like the 'juice box' type of packaging, the convenience and the taste. Excellent for on the run or on the road."

Tropical Oasis Liquid Calcium Citrate

"I have had problems making a decision in the Carbonate vs. Citrate debate... but now the verdict is in. We must take Citrate with RNY gastric bypass. I am a medical facts person and now have the facts. A friend recommended I try this product and it is wonderful. All the tablets I have tried are horse pills and I needed to take several. I dreaded trying this liquid calcium citrate... it is in a brown glass bottle and is a thick white emulsion... I shook it up, poured a tablespoon and ate it... waiting for the nastiness... BUT IT TASTED EXACTLY LIKE LEMON YOGURT! It is the consistency of a thin yogurt and just one tablespoon provides 1200 mg of highly absorbable calcium citrate in the best form for absorption... LIQUID. This is great stuff. The bottle is a one month supply. I wasted lots of money on trying different calcium supplements and they were ALL terrible except for Viactiv and now I found out we dont absorb them because we dont have acid in our stomach. Try this stuff, it tastes good and is good for you!"

Florida Medical Center

"At Florida Medical Center I felt that every technician, nurse or staff member I came in contact with was well acquainted with how to deal with larger patients and the pain we have as WLS post ops. They are experienced in handling RNY patients because my surgeons do so many of these procedures. I could not have asked for better care. I had a private room and they brought in a bed for my girlfriend to stay the first night and then my husband the next night. "

Perfect Zero Carb

"Best tasting protein powder by far... hands down. Not gritty, no gross aftertaste... and has 50 grams of protein in two scoops. Vanilla is most flexible because you can layer on flavorings, wheras when you buy chocolate you have chocolate for all 3 pounds of shake mix. You must doctor up the shakes... even though they are good alone they are actually DELICIOUS and ENJOYABLE with frozen berries or banana or extracts and lots of ice...only use 4-6 ounces of skim milk or water with two scoops to cut the volume. GNC is very high on their prices as it is almost $20 more for the 3 lb cannister. You should be able to find it online for $30 plus $5 shipping instead of $50 at GNC. Also... make sure you buy ZERO CARB Isopure instead of PERFECT Isopure... as the perfect variety has 20-30 carbs per drink. I know several people who have bought the wrong one for WLS. "
