Update

Sep 21, 2012

I can't believe it has taken me so long to update this.

Well I guess to give a quick update:

After 2 weeks with the PICC line in I finally got it taken out and finally started my journey. Everything was going smooth until the week of Thanksgiving. On November 22nd after lunch I developed a very sharp uncomfortable pain. I figured it would go away but after 7 hours and the pain getting worse and not being able to keep anything down, I went to the emergency room. Only to find out that I had a small bowel obstruction and a hernia so Wednesday morning I had emergency surgery and I was released on Thanksgiving. I was able to eat a little bit of Thanksgiving food but not much, I was just happy to be out of the hospital to spend time with my family.

Since than everything really has been smooth sailing. I have adapted and learned how to use my new tool. The only things that I can't eat now are bread and ice cream, which used to be my biggest down fall!

Well at the end of August I ended up having yet another emergency surgery, this time to remove my gallbladder, and so the healing and the recovery begins again.

I am now just enjoying being 1 yr out, being able to shop in the Juniors section and having a normal BMI.

Life is good!!!!

Complications

Sep 28, 2011

So I had surgery on the 13th and my surgeon said that everything went well. Well after surgery I ended up developing some sort of infection. So I ended up staying the in the hospital a little longer than I had hoped and I ended up with a PICC line in my arm and on iv antibiotics at home along with iv nutrition. I have only be allowed ice water and ice chips since the 16th and I will be on that until at least next Wed.

This truly sucks!! I am soooo hungry!! I hope that next weeks appointment gets better and I can get this line out of me and start the real recovery phase!

Tomorrow is the big day

Sep 12, 2011

So tomorrow is the day I have been waiting for since the beginning of the year. I am so excited to begin this journey. I am confident in my surgeon and the staff that he has as well as the hospital. I can't wait to embark on this new journey in my life. I have wonderful support people like my husband and my family, not to mention, God.

I will be on the loser's bench in no time!!

The Pre-op Phase!

Sep 06, 2011

So today I start my pre-op diet. I am nervous and excited about the changes that are going to be happening in the coming weeks. So far today is going by pretty easy for me I really haven't thought much about missing food or a meal. Although I am becoming hungry and I already had one shake.

Only 6 more days after today and my surgery will be here before I know it!!

Scope

Jun 23, 2011

So I had my scope on Friday and I thought it went very good. The hospital staff was all really nice and I was well taken care of.

Unfortunately, but results weren't has smooth as I thought. I have a Hiatal Hernia, Gastristis, and H. Pylori infection. So of course I can't have surgery in to the infection is gone and my Dr. is gonna fix the hernia.

I never realized that I had anything even remotely wrong with my stomach or anything. Its a blessing that I am going to have the Bariatric surgery because I never would have found any of these until I had symptoms and been in pain or just plain miserable. I guess everything works out for a reason.

Wow..

Jun 14, 2011

I can't believe I haven't really been on here since March.

I had my last Dr. appointment before they submit my letter to my insurance company. I feel like it was so far away and now all of a sudden it is in my face.

I am so freaking excited!!! I can't wait to start this journey in my life. I know that it is not going to be easy but no one ever said weight loss would be. I have many challenges coming in my direction in the next few months but I am gonna come out a head strong, slimmer and healthier. I will be able to enjoy life the way I should!!

So for the next few weeks I will be getting stuff together that I will need after surgery and before surgery.

Friday I go for my EGD and that is the last test that I have to do before surgery. Now it will just be the waiting game.

Everything Happens for a Reason

Mar 02, 2011

So today I found out (which I kind of knew in the back of my mind anyways) that I have to wait until July for my letter to be sent to the insurance company. I have to be employed with the company for 2 yrs and it will be that in July. So I am happy and sad about it! Happy because it will give me a chance to change some more bad habits, start working out a little more, and save some money so when I am not working it won't break us. Its bad because I was thinking that it could happen soon and now I have a taste of it. Everything happens for a reason so I will be counting down the days until July and I hope when that time comes the only thing I have to do is my pre-op diet!!

Hopeful

Feb 28, 2011

So I went last night to see the Dr. in my weight loss program and he said that they are going to be sending the letter into my insurance for approval for the surgery. I really hope that this goes the way that I want it to. I don't think I ever really wanted something so bad as this.

*Keeping my fingers crossed and leaving it in the good Lord's hands*
