Hello everyone, my name is Randilyn. I am a single mom of 3 beautiful children, and live in a small Texas town outside of Houston.
I have been overweight all my life but for the most part carried my weight well until having children. (All of which required C-sections. Although growing up I always had some sort of a complex because I was larger than my friends, I didn't let it stop me as I was very active in school, cheerleading was my life.
Most recently, I was diagnosed with a condition called Pseudo Tumor Cerebri, which effects women of child-bearing age that are obese. I have other health conditions as well, such as Osteoarthritis, and asthma.
Due to the Pseudo Tumor, I had lost 20% of my vision within 2 months. My neurosurgeon was wonderful and gave me two options....WLS or a shunt implanted in my brain. Well to my family, it was a no brainer...the WLS was less invasive, so that was my choice. I was given 2 weeks to make a decision, therefore was not able to fight with my insurance company, and became a self-pay. I saw my doctor on a Wednesday and was in surgery the next Tuesday, because he knew the importance.
I went in to schedule the lap-band and my doctor told me he would do the lap-band but because of the importance of getting quick results, he would recommend the Gastric Sleeve.
On December 09, 2008, I received my sleeve! Today, 12-15-08, I am 15lbs lighter!
I have found this sight to be very helpful!! I will be adding pics soon. I hope to make lots of friends here and share my journey in hopes of inspiring others that make this life changing decision.
