Let the Journey begin

Aug 01, 2013

2011 My cousin loses over 100 pounds after having a gastric bypass.  It was the best and hardest thing she had ever done for herself.  But she looks and feels awesome!  So I start researching.  My primary doctor recommends just going to Dr McGill's seminar to learn what its all about.  I trust my primary with my life, so I go.  Once they tell me my PCOS symptoms and most of my medications could go away with this surgery, I'm hooked.    His assistant, Karen, finds out that it will take 6 months of evaluation to get approved by the insurance company.

2012 - I then spend the next few months going to every doctor imaginable.  Sleep apnea test, 3 hour psych evaluation, Doppler, cat scans, MRIs, Endoscopy, stress test, and of course my primary to regulate diet and exercise.

4 months into the process, my contract company decides my current insurance is too expensive and the new insurance denies me on the spot.  I now have to wait for a new job with better insurance and to start the process all over again. And time to gain more weight.

2013- My company hires me!  Their insurance accepts me!   But since its been over a year since certain tests were done, I have to start the process all over again...

Pre-Op diet set to start June 26th!

Background

Aug 01, 2013

I tried everything, Weight Watchers (4 times), Nutrisystem (2 times), South Beach (which caused emergency surgery to remove a piece of my small intestines), grapefruit diet, Quick weight loss with B12 shots... and each time gained back what little I lost plus some.

At  4'11"  235 pounds, size 20 are starting to get tight .  I'm anything but short and sexy.  And yet, I have never smoked, hardly drink and rarely eat dessert.   (Hardly exercise either though)

I have PCOS, Diabetes, High blood pressure and high Cholesterol.  I can't climb stairs without being out of breath, I can't sit and play on the floor with my niece and my 2 cats have to sleep on my chest because I have no lap.

I want to wear what is in fashion.  I want to not ask for a seatbelt extender on the plane.  I want an active social life that includes lots of water activities which means wearing a bathing suit in public and not be afraid they will try to put the beached whale back in the ocean!
